1992 Lexus SC 2 door Description
Here is a very nice 1992 Lexus SC400 2 door coupe at a no reserve auction!
Please email at newparadise08@aol.com if you have specific questions, or would like to see video of the vehicle.
I purchased this vehicle as my "new toy", but all it does is sit in the garage! I travel a lot for my work, and am barely home. Time to let someone else have this beauty.
The car feels very solid, no creaks, squeaks, rattles or weird noises! The engine purrs like a Lexus, and the big V-8 has the power and torque to get moving quickly.
I did some upgrade modifications to the vehicle, including:
1) High flow air filter intake (car is much more responsive than with the stock air box, and better mpg!)
2) Rear mufflers delete. (this gives the engine the low rumble like a V-8, while working with the air filter to increase power. The removal of mufflers DOES NOT make inside the cabin loud, or drone at certain RPMs, which to me is a big no-no)
3) Three spoke sporty steering wheel. (the old steering wheel was worn out, so I replaced it with this newer style leather wrapped three spoke steering, which is also a smaller diameter than original for the sporty feel. You feel like you are in a video game while driving!
4) Side blinker lights: This modification turns on the lower lights (which originally only turn on while your blinkers are on) when your parking lights are on. Also, if you look closely, the side lamps in the headlights are on, where originally they only turned on when blinkers were activated. With this modification, with the parking lights on, the two lower lights, the side marker lights in the bumpers, the parking lights in the headlights, and the side lamps in the headlights all turn on (total 8 lights).
5) Fog lights in bumper. I loved this modification! I installed two oem fog lights from a Toyota Soarer (which the Lexus SC is known as in Japan) into the bumper, and these lights turn on with the headlights. People who see how good the lights look cannot believe this car is from the 1990's. (My next project was to add an oem grill, similar to how 1997-1999 Lexus sc's have in the bumper, but I will leave that for the next owner)
6) Chrome side door pillars.
7) Chrome 17" Niche 5 spoke wheels with 245/45/17 tires. These wheels really shine!
8) Carbon fiber gas & brake pedals (this look matches the carbon fiber on the steering wheel)
LIST OF RECENT SERVICES PERFORMED:
1) Engine Oil & filter change at 175,000 miles with Castrol synthetic 5w-30.
2) Transmission fluid change & OEM strainer from Lexus at 170,000 miles
3) Brake fluid, power steering fluid flush at 170,000 miles
4) Brakes changed at 165,000 miles
5) Spark plugs replaced at 165,000 miles
THINGS THAT ARE WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE:
1) There are a few dents, scratches on the exterior. Please see pictures.
2) Lower control arm bushings are worn out (very common issue on this vehicle), but the part only costs $20 on ebay.
3) Instrument cluster has three needles that do not light up (very common issue). You can still read the gauges, but the lit up needle makes life easier. Please see picture
4) Moon roof has a crack on the upper glass. This moonroof has three layers of glass, upper, middle, and lower. The upper is cracked, but I sealed it with glass sealer. No water leaks anywhere what so ever. Please see last picture.
5) Climate control display has a blackout spot.
6) Interior leather has minor rips, and some areas have been repaired.
Please see all pictures carefully. I urge in person inspection so you can appreciate just how beautiful this car truly looks. I am amazed that the paint still shines so much after all these years!
Please keep in mind that this vehicle is used, and there is normal wear & tear.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Good Luck & Happy Bidding!!
On May-22-17 at 23:57:01 PDT, seller added the following information:A couple of items that I realized I forgot to note:
1) When the spark plugs were replaced, the ignition coils were changed as well.
2) The a/c light turns on, but doesn't cool. I believe the system is out of freon.
