I have had this car for almost 20 years.
This car is garage kept IN ORANGE COUNTY NEW YORK, and in good shape. Nearly the entire service history, other than a few things over the years, was done at Lexus dealers..If you are looking for a stock, well cared for MONSTER of an SC 400 that you can just get into and cruise, this is a great choice! Still runs like a tank.
The 1996 Supra is worth at least $60,000 I was hoping this car would be with something crazy some day but they just made soooo many SC's and a lot less Supras for a shorter time frame. There are many of the SC400’s but not with lower miles like this and in good enough drivable shape. She starts & runs & drives. NO major issues im aware of, im not a mechanic but anytome there was an issue i take it to the shop.
Great car to slap a supercharger or Turbo on and take to the track. Reasonable cost to maintain at Lexus dealers over the years, but if you want to save some money on the maintenance you can take it to any Toyota dealer or any shop as well... I’m not a mechanic so I can’t comment on the engine or anything like that. So I have done all services etc at professional shops mostly by and large at Lexus dealerships.
I have maintained this vehicle since i bought it from Palm Beach Lexus in 2002, it had about 40,000 miles on it. Although i have been lucky enough to not have had any major problems with this car over the years, i have had services either mandatory or recommended, done without hesitation. The ignition coil was replaced at a Lexus dealer in Georgia & the timing belt had been replaced at lexus of palm beach i think, its been 20 years about, so i dont recal. as the mileage indicated it was time to do so along with all regular maintenance and all scheduled services.Palm Beach Lexus completely replaced and updated/upgraded the AC system when i bought it, so its still blowing pretty cold. they also re-painted the from bumper that started peeling about 8 years or so ago, lasted longer than i thought it would.
I had the sound system overhauled, JL audio & MB QUART, i replaced the 8 inch nakamichi sub with a 10 inch sub in the rear deck that is a JL also. Rear windows are tinted but failing. The stock head-unit was changed to what was at the time a top of the line 6 disk Pioneer Double din unit that is still modern and great! Tires still have some tread on them.. i had the tires rotated and oil changed pretty regularly over the years but less since not driving much at all..
This car is in a different class than many i have ever seen on ebay or on the road. I see these cars pushing 200,000+ miles and are usually just sorry looking sad sun damaged cars that already look broken down, especially in florida but this car is garage kept, drives strong and still has the POWER!. This is one of the few SC 400's out there that if you wanted to you can concentrate on correcting some of the minor flaws in its condition, and make it a show car.
All is just normal wear and tare for a car its age, but you can see by the pics the white pearl paint still pops pretty well when clean, could definitely use a wax / Simonize and the spots that need attention are small and pretty Much minor...
as you can see from the pictures the carpets, seats and interior are all pretty clean and in good shape, better than most. Kind of an old car weird smell smell going on in there but I cant figure it out. maybe from being in the garage, i just dont know. I was going to try a Mother's Oder eliminator & refresher. Meguiar's makes one 2they are under 10$.i have been asked if i had a new interior and seats installed, excluding the driver seat- they are in great shape. It’s definitely worth more as a parts car but I don’t have the time to part it out.i figure the engine is worth $4,000it could use a shampooing Or something and the driver seat could use a leather treatment. The driver seat, arm rest, and steering wheel could use some leather conditioning... The driver seat and the console have the most wear along with the steering wheel. What i would recommend is a really good wash, wax, and a paint buffing/revitalization done... driver door card is a little messed up but all works fine. If you want to go the extra mile some of the suspension could be upgraded to more expensive high performance parts, but i really love the ride and how it drives, seems great to me.. it has plenty of power and pull and corners and handles well... This car has most of the little issues and quirks & things that all the SC's have, if you know then you know. Weird electrical things that are just not fixable & some moisture in the driver side headlight (even though they were replaced with brand new ones) I have new fog lamps too just not installed. Still passes inspection every yea, always did in California where it’s much more stringent.
There are some little dings here and there of course, nothing too major, couldnt even get them to really show up on the pictures, the runner on the driver side needs to be pulled out, i just dont have time.. also, i know the cars looks good in the pictures but i hadn't had it washed or cleaned in a many months, so yea paint and everything is still pretty good! email me if you want to see the car, or have any questions... i'll add to this description if i can think of anything else.. oh, yea, look at the pictures of the engine, i have never cleaned the engine, it is just in good shape. i had 40 really awesome pictures but could only upload 12. I don’t know of any major issues or problems with the motor or transmission. It’s starts right up and drives hard & fast. The car is perfect for a turbo or supercharger!! The car is sold AS IS WHERE IS no warranty is expressed or implied. No returns, sorry. Due to the pandemic I need to sell the car, I was planning on making it a TWIN TURBO this summer and destroying some Porsches and such, but that dream is canceled due to the current national situation :/About this vehicleThis 1992 Lexus SC400 is an original.
