1978 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe
1978 Lincoln Continental Description
This is a two owner 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe equipped with all of the power options available for the time as well as the rare fixed glass moon roof. The car has the larger optioned engine, the 460 backed by a C6 automatic transmission which operates smooth, quiet, and with more than enough power to move this automobile down the road with ease. All of the power accessories operate as new; windows, seats, tilt, cruise control, A/C (still R-12), lighting, locks, and trunk release. The clock has said 7:09 since some time in the 1980s I was told so there is one project that the new owner can call their own, Imight be able to supply a clock that works -no guarantees though. The interior of the Continental is immaculate, the seats and carpet show no wear, the floor mats do show some wear as expected though. All of the glass including the moon roof is excellent, clear and free of defects. Note that this car was built for theWestern CanadianDSO and does have the metric instrumentation as the primary scale, the odometer reads 95,xxx kilometers which is approximately 59-60,000 miles. The exterior of this car is all original and in exceptional condition as well, there havenot been any accidents or paint repairs of any kind. There are three blemishes noted in the last three photos after the Marti Report, one door ding in the upper part of the passenger fender, stain from a leaking battery as it was removed from car on the passenger side headlight door and above that on the header as well, and the drivers door lower corner, the door probably got away from someone and scraped over a curb. These items are very minor and would not require a full repaint on the car, I am told that the paint is in good enough condition to still match and blend which is not normal for this era of car with the type of paint used then. The wheels have recently been re-polished and new Coker AmericanClassic whitewalls were installed - maybe 500 miles or so. The exhaust system was also replaced approximately 3 years ago, along with the shocks, brakes, carburetor rebuild, and spark plugs.2,500 miles possibly on this work. This car is part of a collection that is stored in a climate controlled facility, professionally maintained, and driven to and from local car shows and cruises. This car is maintained to drive and enjoy whenever possible, it would have no problem making a long road trip.
