1969 Lincoln Continental Description

I have had this car since May 2012. I have probably driven the car less than 500 miles since I have had it. When I titled the car I could not remember the actual mileage so I guessed. As of today the car has about 1600 miles less than what I guessed back then. The odometer shows 68,160. I have no way of knowing for sure but it is probably 168,160.Since I bought the car I have had the engine completely overhauled, the automatic transmission completely rebuilt, with new torque convertor, new tires, replaced thestarter, alternator, master cylinder, brake pads/shoes and at least part of the rotors/drums. I can't remember if I replaced all or not. New oil sending unit, temperature sending unit, fan belts, starter solenoid, brand new battery in the last two or three months. 1200 cold cranking amps. Sent off water pump nd had it professionally rebuilt because I could not find a new one. Replaced hoses, belts, 12 volt coil, distributor, new Edelbrock carburetor. New radiator, radiator cap, heater core, headlight dimmer switch, brake booster, all new head lights (four), battery cable(s), just about everything mechanical that you can think of. And the car has only about 500 miles after all this work. I only drive it every few months. Last time, before today was about 3 months ago. It drove near perfectly then. Today, the pump on the carburetor had a slight delay, hesitation. I drove it about 45 miles. Somewhere along the line the pump started working properly again. The negative things about it that come to mind include the passenger door panel is damaged and not on the door. A replacement needs to be obtained and installed. I believe that possibly the front windows may be off the window frame. They do not go up and down when the switch is pressed. I pull them into place at the top and they pretty much stay there. There is adhesive available at the auto parts store and should not be too hard for someone mechanically inclined. I don't know if the air conditioner works or not. I don't believe I had it recharged after rebuilding the engine. The body is not beat up, badly rusted or dented. There appears to be minor rust on the rear fenders by the tires. There is also some along the lower section of the body below the doors. Possibly some on the front fenders. If there is it isn't bad. The top needs to be redone. The car had a partial vinyl top on the rear part of the car top. The vinyl was in bad shape and leaking water when it rained. Not major but any leakage is too much. I am certainly no body man but I did remove the old vinyl and tried to patch the rusty places after I sanded the top and applied Bondo to the holes. I spray painted it with spray cans and it looks bad. I put a new piece of old car trim/molding around the bottom of the paint and secured it with rivets. This needs to be resanded, professionally repaired, along with the other rusty places and completely repainted. The interior appears to be in pretty good condition with the exception of the door panels. The driver side is not terrible but it sure would look a lot better if it were replaced. The top looks very nice. The power switches did work, now I don't know. They may start working properly after used a few times, if they don't now. I can't really think of anything else. I am sure that after sitting for all this time things may not work as they should and will probably need to be adjusted or possibly even replaced. I have approximately $6200.00 in the car that I have kept receipts and hand written at the time. Probably more. I am starting the price fairly low with a reserve. If I can get any where near what I have in it I will sell it. Since I will be taking a pretty good loss on the car I will absolutely not guarantee anything other than a clear title. I filled the car up today with high octane. Should only be filled with high octane. It is a very powerful engine. Drives great, like you are floating. If someone wants to make me a reasonable offer I will accept it and stop the auction. I hate to look out and see this car just sit. That is harder on them than hard driving. The only possible thing that I can think of that may need attention would be the carburetor. It may need adjusted or some other attention. If you live near Southern Indiana or will be in the area while the auction is going on you are welcome to come look at it. In fact I prefer that you do. That way you will know for sure what you are getting. I would not be afraid to drive the car cross country. As I said, the carburetor may or may not need attention. After that I foresee no problems. At least in the near future. The car should last for years and thousands of miles if properly cared for and maintained. If you have any questions please ask and I will do my best to answer them. Just remembered another thing. The opera windows have been added. It was done before I bought the car. Not a very good job. They either need to be installed correctly or removed and the holes patched. A non refundable deposit of $250 is due at the end of the auction with the balance to be paid in cash only when car is picked up. Preferably within seven days.
