1969 Lincoln Mark Series Mark III Continental Description

Here for your consideration is a 1969 Lincoln Mark III Continental that has just come out of 32 years of storage in a dark, basement garage. I have known about this car for more than 15 years, but until recently was not for sale. I finally purchased this car a few months ago, rinsed it off, and got it running. If you look at the photo of the Gulf service sticker you will notice that it had 22K miles in 1979. The owner said it had 29K miles on it when he got it in 1985. He only drove it for a couple of months before parking it in his basement garage. The car drives like a 29K mile car, but I have no other proof of the miles other than what you see here. I pumped the gas out of the tank and installed fresh. The transmission was only down two quarts, so I topped it off and the car cranked, ran, and shifted easily. The front brakes were fine, but the rear cylinders were frozen. I replaced the cylinders and shoes and we had great brakes. I bought a new set of whitewall tires because the tires on it, which were original according to the owner, were badly deteriorated. I also replaced the upper radiator hose because it was cracking. This car is now driveable and have driven it back and forth to work from my house a few times. The headlights do not close and I suppose that is a vacuum problem. They will close manually. When under acceleration, the car runs smooth and strong. At a steady speed, the engine has a slight surge to it. I suspect it is maybe a vacuum leak due to the headlights. The steering, shifting and braking fells like a new car. This car needs a thorough cleaning and sorting out from being parked so long, but is complete and should be a fairly simple project. It is running and driving, but I wouldn't recommend anyone flying in with plans to drive it a long distance to it's new home. amazingly, when I turned the A/C on, the compressor engaged and the line under the hood got ice cold. The driver's window works fine, but the passenger's side works intermittently. Don't miss out on this Lincoln. You will not find a more reasonably priced Mark III. This car is sold as is. I expect full payment within seven days of auction's end. It can remain here as long as necessary for you to arrange shipping. (up to 90 days) thanks for looking at my car. This is a No Reserve auction.
