1987 Lincoln Town Car Base Sedan 4-Door Description

As shown, my 1987 Lincoln Town Car (base model). It's a fabulous car, excellent for cruising around town or long road trips. The upholstery is in excellent condition as is the interior in general. The car has the original radio and it still works well, though the speakers are getting a little tired after 30 years. The cruise control, power locks, power front seat adjustments, power heated mirrors, automatic high beams, headlight timer, automatic parking brake release, and just about everything else works. The rear power window motors need new bearings but the front windows work okay, including the vents. The blower and heater work great, but the car has not been upgraded to r134a so the A/C does not work. The windshield is okay, but it does have a hairline crack across the upper 1/4th, but it has not affected inspections. The CB radio works great!
As far as the engine, I have replaced/repaired the following items:
  • New Michelin tires (7000 miles ago in January 2017)
  • New front and rear shocks
  • Full service (new oil & filter, spark plugs & wires, air filter, battery check, wiper fluid, wipers, etc.)
  • New water pump and coolant hoses; coolant flush
  • Replaced valve cover gaskets
  • Replaced sway bar bushings
  • New front brake pads, hoses, and calipers
  • New rear brake shoes and drum brake service, hoses, and fluid flush
  • New halogen headlights
Although the car is in great condition and about 85-90% restored to original, there are a few items that still need service:
  • Driver window gasket is partly missing
  • Spare tire is ancient and should be replaced
  • Both mufflers have some rust and are a tad throaty (though the 302 still sounds cool!)
  • Windshield should be repaired/replaced
  • Air conditioning should be converted
  • Rear window motors need new bearings
  • Vinyl top is near the end of its life

The paint is glossy with a few, very minor scratches in paint but body is straight and in very good condition overall. The power antenna and power trunk release & motor work as well. Most of the pictures were taken on Pike's Peak. Please let me know if you want to see the car and inspect the service records. Local pickup only. Cash only.
