1940 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan, Barn Find
1940 Lincoln Zephyr Description
This is a barn find automobile. It has been parked in a concrete floor/dry barn since 1994. The body and underside are very solid, the frame is good. The right rear skirt and fender have been dented and will need attention, the left rear skirt has some rust/damage as well. The engine will turn over with the starter but I am not sure about having spark and the compression seems low, I am still investigating the engine status. The fuel system has been modified, the engine mechanical fuel pump has been bypassed and an electric pump has been installed inline. The radiator still has "green" antifreeze, no obvious leaks other than the heater has been bypassed so I assume the core leaks. The wide whites have been flat for many years and I would never trust them "on the road" but they have tubes and pumped right up for moving day! The 2 front hubcaps are pretty nice, the rears have been dented and "hammered" out. The brakes show no apparent leaks however the pedal goes to the floor and the vehicle exhibits no brakes yet the hand brake is functional. The interior is rough, both seats have been recovered, the door panels and headliner are in poor condition. The odometer and title show 11,692 miles however I believe it should be 111,692 miles as the rubber on the gas pedal is worn and the metal shows through. All in all this is a remarkably well preserved 77 year old automobile which has amazing potential for restoration to a "driver".... Restoration to "show status".... Or even as street rod material. Vehicle is being sold "as is-where is" Buyer will be responsible for shipping costs..I will assist for loading when sold.I was issued a clear Massachusetts title at the sale and have applied for a title in my name, will take up to 4-6 weeks to arrive, I will hold a deposit until the title arrives at which time the sale must be completed within 7 days.
