1977 Lincoln Mark Series Description

1977 Lincoln Continental Mark V All Original! No reserve!

Up for bid is a 1977 Lincoln Mark V with 40,500 original miles. The car was purchased in Macon, Georgia in around 1978 by my wife's grandfather. He liked it so much he bought his wife a white one, too! (Yes, I have two of these beasts!) He drove this one until his passing in 1984, at which point it sat in a shop building unmoved until around 2006, when my father-in-law and myself got her running and driving again only to park her back in the building until last year when I pulled her out again and made her roadworthy once more. Well, it is time to let her go.
The body has the original top and mostly original paint. The right side was damaged in 1979 and taken to the Lincoln dealer where he bought it for repair. He was not happy with the result, as you can see the paint has peeled and turned a different shade. Apparently, he caused quite a stink about it in the day! Also, note the rust that has appeared in different spots (I tried to get them in the photos), the worst being on the left side, just under the padded top. It was unusual to see rust on a Georgia car, but I think thebuilding where she rested for so many years built up a lot of moisture in the summer heat and storms. Regardless, the undersides and trunk are rust-free.
The interior is almost perfect. I hope you like green! There are a few minor spots on the carpet and a minor scuff on the back seat, but otherwise it is 1977 again. All the lights and gauges work, although the "Door Ajar" light stays on for some reason. I think the switch on the passenger door might be the culprit. Sadly, the original Quadrasonic AM/FM Ford 8-track doesn't seem to emit any tunes, and the power antenna refuses to show itself with the switch. The Cartier clock is stuck in 1977 (doesn't work), and Air Conditioning wants to get cold, but just gets alittle chilly. The power windows work great, as well as the power seat. All other buttons, lights, and gizmos work as they should, including the trunk release in the glove box, as well as the "Low Fuel" light--which gets a lot of use with that huge 460 under the hood-ha ha!
The hidden headlights loose their vacuum overnight and will be once again looking at you in the morning. I only have one key, I couldn't find the others, including the trunk key, but it will open with the release in the glove box. Grandma kept the tags up on it and her white one until 2000, but never drove it. I believe she stopped driving the white one in the early 1990s when she got a ticket on the interstate--for going too slow!
Mechanically, she runs and drives like new. Literally floats down the road, the first time I drove her last year I was heading up Riverside Drive here in Macon and noticed I seemed to be passing everyone. I looked down and saw I was creeping up on 80 mph without even realizing it! That smooth! Within the past year I replaced the entire brake system (hoses, pads, calipers front AND rear, master cylinder and that funky hydro boost--all new), plus a carb rebuild, had the gas tank cleaned and coated plus a new sending unit, new shocks on the rear, plus a full tuneup, including new belts and hoses. Lastly, I bought a set of new MileStar white wall tires. I've put about 150 miles since resurrecting her. Very fun to drive.

Please look at the photos carefully and don't hesitate to ask any and all questions! Georgia is a no-title state for old cars, so I willsell on a notarized bill of sale. Sadly, I couldn't find any old paperwork on the car, which would have been cool. Oh well, the car is cool enough.
I am listing with no reserve, so please bid responsibly. I am located just north of Macon, Georgia, just off of I-75, and have plenty of room for a transport truck, should you go that route. Thank you for looking!
