1948 Lincoln Continental Mark I Cabriolet
1948 Lincoln Continental Description
1948 Lincoln Continental Mark I Cabriolet. There were only 452 of these built and this one came from southern California with almost zero rust through. The original V-12 and manual transmission are still with the car. It lot drives, but needs some one smarter than me to set the timing because it doesn't have a lot of power. I performed a complete brake job, so you can say the car runs and stops. You may notice that the rear bumper has been completely rechromed, looks nice. The tires are Coker bias-ply, that have no mileage on them, but are aged; so I wouldn't trust them. I have installed Fat Mat floor insulation starting at the firewall going back to include the entire trunk area. The car was originally blue; which is showing through in a lot of areas; that someone repainted red a long time ago. I started changing the color to Lincoln Maroon by painting the dash and interior windshield frame. A complete new exhaust system has been installed. This car needs, and deserves, a total restoration. This car is VERY complete, missing very little. Selling because the doctor diagnosised me with TMB, "Too Many Birthdays". I can help with loading. The electrical system needs to be gone through. I installed two 6V Optima batteries in parallel series, connecting to one side gives you 6 volts, while connecting to the negative on one battery and connecting to the positive of the other battery gives you 12 volts. I installed two fuse blocks under the dash with two kill switches, with the 6 volt powering the ignition and later to power the gauges etc.. The 12 volt side will be to power the 12 volt headlights, parking & turn signal lights. The 6 volt distributor wire is run through a resistor, that drops it to 3 volts. The chassis wiring has yet to be ran. All of this can be easily changed.
