Lotus Seven Clone RM8
1917 Lotus Seven Description
This is a Lotus Seven clone that was imported from South Africa in the mid-90's as a roller (No engine or transmission means no federal regulations, considered parts). This was assembled in a factory in South Africa and is not a Locost chassis. I purchased it in 1994 from an ad in Autoweek and started gathering the parts to put it on the street. I got side tracked by 5 years of racing a Legends car and have never gotten back to the project. The engine block has been bored +60 and decked. The crank, lightened flywheel and new pressure plate balanced together. A brand new camshaft was sent to Isky and ground. Tubular pushrods and valve springs were purchased from Isky. New bearings, pistons, rings and gaskets are there for the engine to be assembled. The engine needs assembled and installed. Wiring needs done. Used brake parts are in boxes ready for use as cores or to be rebuilt. New set of VDO gauges (picture). I have a spare Kent 1600 and spare transmission that goes with car. I have an Indiana assembled title listing this as a 1990 RM8 Kit Car.
