1989 Lotus Esprit Description

You are looking at my 1989 Lotus Esprit. I have enjoyed bringing this car back to the road! I purchased this car from a gentleman car enthusiast last September that kept the car in his business show room and it definitely turned heads while there! He purchased the car from the Barrett Jackson Auction company in 2016 and never drove it. The Owner allowed an employee to drive it a few times to have service performed on the car, but for 99% of the time, the car stayed inside his company store front as visual eye candy.

These very rare vehicles are so amazing to drive and experience as a driver or passenger. This car is one of the spirited and highly desirable 4 cylinder Turbo that truly gave the drive a unique experience unlike the later bulkier V8 editions. This car is painted "Steel Blue Metallic" and "Vulcan Gray".

Cosmetically, this car has been cared for extremely well and is very apparent with a close inspection. The factory OZ wheels are in excellent shape showing no curb rash and fitted with brand new tires that were installed less than 2 years ago.

Since taking possession of this Lotus Esprit, I have changed thespark plugs as well as the fuel injectors. The original alternator has been rebuilt and charges the car as it should. The car drives amazing and is mechanically sound. It is a real head turner and will press you deeper in the seat as the turbo boost increases. (original fuel injectors come with the car)

The Connolly leather is in great condition with slight evidence of wear on the driver's side seat bolster.

The Blaupunkt cassette stereo has been carefully removed and has been replaced with a modern Alpine Bluetooth Touch screen display that allows easy connection to your mobile devices as well as a rear mounted back up camera to assist in the driving experience and enjoyment of the car. (Original Blaupunkt radio is included with the car)

The factory gear shifter knob has been replaced with a custom wooden shift knob that i made. It is milled from a piece of red oak and is finished in Golden Oak Stain with multiple layers of clear polyurethaneand a Lotus logo. (original knob is included)

I have a few youtube videos that show the condition of the car when i received it as well as some of the repairs and modifications i performed on the car since my ownership.

I am also including with this sell the engine diagnostic connector. This is especially useful for troubleshooting any engine codes to give you a better idea whats going on behind that check engine light.

I have tried to show every angle of the car in the pictures and be open and honest on it's condition. I may have excluded some things by accident. Your questions are welcomed and i will do my best to answer them.

There is a small chip in the paint on the driver's side door, and some small blemishes associated with use, but overall the paint and finish are in great condition. There is a random "Check Engine" light that occasionally illuminates. The code indicates a faulty engine knock sensor, but some Lotus Forums indicate it could be due to using aftermarket fuel injectors. The air conditioner will need a charge. It hasn't been charged since i have owned it. The speedometer on the car has a slight bounce at slow speeds some times. not often but occasionally. The original factory speedometer had been replaced prior to my ownership. The current Autometer speedometer did not match the car's interior and i changed it to a used Lotus Speedo. The Speedometer installed is a 0-150MPH, the correct speedo should go to 170MPH. I have seen the passenger side headlight "wink" at me. Its an indication that the gears to raise and lower the headlight is wearing out. Not often, but has happened. Its a GM part and should be affordable to change the parts if necessary. Power door locks do not work. The catalytic converter has been gutted out. This may affect emissions requirements in your state, please check your local laws before placing a bid or making an offer.

$200 non refundable deposit required within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Total sale price required within 10 days unless communicated to winner differently.

I will assist in shipping. (meaning, you arrange, i will be available to meet the driver) The financial burden of shipping is on the buyer.

I reserve the right to end the auction early.

I have listed the car at 31500 or best offer. I needed a starting point and I figured that was a good as any. If you would like to make an offer, please message me.
