A primo 1989 Maserati Zagato Bi-Turbo Spyder with only 25,605 miles!
First of all, don’t confuse the 1989 model with the earlier, unreliable 1985-88 models. The 1989 Spyder has a 2.8L V6 with 3 valves per cylinder. It’s twin turbos output 248 hp and is very quick!
This car features a 5 speed Manual transmission, 16” OZ wheels (which is a $2k option). Wood leather steering wheel and brake handle option. Also has custom exhaust with 2 inch flow pipes, and optional Oil Pan Guard (a necessity for this low of a car). Has 1991 factory mod Power Steering/Oil Cooler kit installed. New 205/50 VR tires have only about 500 miles on them. Two years ago had a complete major service (cost $2900) done which included timing belts, etc. and only driven about 500 miles since then.No rust or corrosion as car has been inCaliforniaandNevadafor the 15 years I have owned it.And of course the classic Italian color combination of red with tan leather!
So what is wrong with car? While the paint is great, there is one tiny blemish on right fender (see picture) which could probably be dealt with by a professional detailer. The leather on the center console is showing some age cracking (see picture) and the top while in great shape for its age, is beginning to have some wear on the inside from rubbing on the arm structure. It doesn’t affect the operation of the top, which I mostly keep down anyway, and the window is fine, but just wanted to be forthright. While the heat works, the AC needs to be worked on. Since I drove with the top down it was never a priority with me.
So why am I selling this car? I have owned this car for 15 years having bought it from the founder of M.I.E. in 2002. At that time the car had 17,081 miles (verified by Car Fax) on it. Since then I have driven the car only 8,500 miles in 15 years. Even worse only 2,200 miles in the last 9 years, and 500 miles in the last two years! Yikes…this beautiful car needs to be enjoyed! I have two other wonderful cars, a Maserati Quatroporte S and a Mercedes, and given my age (72) it’s time for someone else to own it. Get a fun beautiful Italian convertible for not a lot of money and enjoy the summer!
Car is located in Reno, NV and may be test driven if you like. Feel free to contact me on my cell at (510) 333-4106 if you are serious and have any questions.
