1993 Mazda MX-5 Miata Description

I've cared for this Miata as it's second owner since 2010. It spend its prior years in the drywest Texas desert in Amarillo and shows no signs of rust. It has been garaged since I've owned itandit has 75,130 miles with 6,000 miles under my care. The car is fully functional with no issues, everything works. All major maintenance is up to date.

Interior

The Miata was 'B' package (original window sticker included) with black cloth interior. I purchased a complete stockred leather interior from a 1993 Miata LE and then a few years ago Iswapped the cloth interior out for the red leather interior. Mazda only made 1500 of these rare red leather interiors. I should note that this a complete interior, not just the seats, but the dash, carpet, floor mats, door panels, trim pieces, red seatbelts...everything. As with most Miata leather interiors, there is some minor bolster wear on the driver seat, but it is minimal. No tears in the seats. I also replaced the sound deadening material in the floor and doors with dynamat to quiet the ride. A Hard Dog Deuce roll bar was installed at that time for added safety and chassis stiffening. This a functional roll bar and not a style bar. I recently replaced the airbag computermodule (common failure point) and theairbag is fully functional. Stereo has been replaced with an aftermarket CD player with AUX/USB inputs. The headrest speakers were replaced with Clearwater speakers specifically designed for Miata applications.

Exterior

The car wears it's original paint and has no records or evidence of having to evervisit a body shop because of a wreck. The paint does not have any peeling or major failure points. It does have a few nicks and the body has several small dents and dings along it,and the front nose has taken its fair share of road wear. The passenger side rocker has a dent just behind the front wheel in the section of the car painted black and I always forget about it because it is mostlyunnoticeable. Overall the paint and body present well. The top is original and I recently replaced the rear plastic window with a new one since the old window had yellowed from age. The car comes with aMiata red boot cover and hard to find tonneau cover.

Mechanical

All maintenance is up to date. I have even gone in and replaced every coolant hose even though there were no issues. The car has its original clutch, but shows no signs of needing replacement. It has a factory installed limited slip differential. The car rides on its original suspension with no issues. The wheels are actual Miata wheels made by BBS for limited edition models from 1992-1993. The wheels have no signs of curb rash. The tires are BridgestoneRE960AS 195/60 R14and only have 4000 miles on them. The only performanceupgrade I've done to the car is install a Jackson Racing cold air intake about 3000 miles ago. A/C works with no issues. The radiator looks like it was replaced at sometime (common failure point) by the original owner. The car shifts, rides and runs flawlessly.

Major Maintenance

69,500 miles

Timing belt, idler pulley, tensioner spring/pulley, water pump, cam seal, front crank seal, PS/AC belt, alternator belt, valve cover gasket, CAS seal, spark plugs and wires, 9 coolant hose replaced, coolant flush/change, fuel filter, upper/lower shifter boot, all brake fluid replaced, rear diff oil (Redlinesynthetic), manual trans fluid (Redlinesynthetic).

Last oil change was at 72,700 and I've always used synthetic with a Mazda filter.

An interesting side note with this car. According to the dealership I purchased it from in Amarillo, they claimed thecar was originally owned and traded inby the famed professionalwrestler Terry Funk who lives in Amarillo, TX. I would imagine his wife actually drove it, but none the less an interesting side note if you believe the dealer's claim. I am not directly making that claim, but I'm sure one could search the public record to confirm.
