1984 FB body Series 3 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE
1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE Description
Up for sale here is a remarkably original 1984FB body Series 3 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE vintage Japanese sports car. With a 1.3L RE-EGB fuel injected 135HP 13B rotary motor and it's light and nimble 5 speed manual transmission, the GSL-SE was the flagship of Mazda's sport car offering at the time and was stiff competition for cars in it's class like the Nissan/Datsun 300ZX and the Porsche 944. The 1984 RX-7 GSL has an estimated 29 highway miles per gallon (8.11 litres per 100km) /19 estimated city miles per gallon (12.37 l/100km). According to Mazda, its rotary engine, licensed by NSU-Wankel allowed the RX-7 GSL to accelerate from 0 to 50 (80km/h) in 6.3 seconds.GSL-SEs had much the same options as the GSL (clutch-type rear LSD and rear disc brakes), but the brake rotors were larger, allowing Mazda to use the more common lug nuts (versus bolts), and a new bolt pattern of 4x114.3 (4x4.5"). Also, they had upgraded suspension with stiffer springs and shocks.
This car is all original except the tires, radio, and the antenna. It currently has a set of aftermarket rims installed but comes with the original rims as well. The original rims have just been powder coated at an expense of $460.00. The interior is in remarkably beautiful shape with no tears, stains or missing parts. The passenger side power mirror is not functioning. The car comes with both a painted top and a glass top and also included is the original storage bag for the top not in use. Top moon roof crank still works perfect as do the electric windows and the red line buzzer. The only other non-functioning part the car is the radio speaker selector "joystick" that was probably unhooked when the modern CD/Radio was installed. The car also has 3 or 4 very small rust bubbles that are not through the metal but have penetrated the paint. I have posted pictures of the rust. The modern radio also has subwoofer lines already run to the rear compartment of the car. The car drives and runs excellent although the shocks and struts are probably due for a change after 99k miles of use. The car has never been modified mechanically and has never been tracked or SOLO raced. Headlights function fine and together with no drag or slowness.
The only reason I am selling this is to pay off the restoration on another car. You will be hard pressed to find another in this original and mechanical condition. Serious buyers are welcome to see the car in person near its storage place in Clermont, Indiana. A good place to meet would be at the entrance to the world famous Lucas Oil Raceway Park.
It is truly amazing how original this three owner car was kept over the last 33 years. You may contact the owner via email ssnfa@yahoo.com or by telephone at 317-694-5126.
