Selling this 1992 Mazda Efini RX-7 Type R (vin FD3S-106898) that has been legally imported into the United States. The car is currently in South Florida. This is a rust-free, and accident-free example.
The Type R models had a few subtle items over the common RX-7s;firmer suspension, twin oil coolers, no sunroof, factory fog lights, purple-hued microfiber front seats, afront chin spoiler, and rear spoiler.
With a verified 80,179kilometers(49,820miles) original miles on the clock, overall condition is very nice.The exterior color beenhas changed from red to white. The engine bay remains red, however, door jams and the bottom of the hood are white. This is not a concourspaint job, but it does have a beautiful, deep-gloss shine. The front bumper does have the common heat dimples, may be hard to see in photos. You can see tiny hints of white paint on the front and rear windshield moldings.There is also a dent present on the lower left-hand rocker panel. The car sits nicely on a set of staggered 17-inch, Enkei Racing K95wheels. The wheels could definitely use a re-finish. I imagine the new owner will probably end up changing out the current wheels for a proper set of BBS or Volks.
Interior is very clean. The headliner, dashboard, and carpet are in excellent condition. The front seats are in great shape as well. There is a small tear present in the rear seat. An aftermarket steering wheel, and Mazdaspeed shift knob were installed by the previous owner. An HKS turbo timer is mounted below the cd player, and boost is monitored via a 52mm Bosch boost gauge. A/C blows ice cold with a vent temperature of 44 degrees fahrenheit.
The 13B runs beautiful, and checks off the indications of a healthy rotary. No smoke upon cold starts,great vacuum is present, and the motor fires up with zero hesitation when warm.Common reliabilty issues have been addressed with this one as well.A new OEM air separator tank has been installed as these commonly fail with age. To keep the sequential turbo system running as it should, the vacuum hoses below the intake manifold have been converted to a high-quality hose kit. Also known as the 'rats nest'. During our service, we found 3 faulty solenoids, and 4 faulty check valves. These components have been replaced with new OEM parts from Mazda. A Blitz Nur Spec cat-back exhaust, and Blitz air filters are also equipped, and the combination makes all the right sounds! A Hallman manual boost controller restrictsboost to 10 psi, as the car still has the standard ECU. The motor pulls excellent, with a reliable boost pattern as it transitions from the primary to secondary turbo.
The gearbox is smooth, no grinds, no pop-outs. This RX-7 DOES NOT have the common 5th gear grind.The brake pedal isfirm, and responsive. The car tracks straight, and is very solid on the road. This FD is definitely a proper example of an early 90's Japanese sports car!
