1993 Mazda MX-5 Miata LE (Limited Edition) Description

Up for bid is my highly sought after and RARE 1993 Mazda Miata LE! 1 of 1500 ever produced! I love this car and everything it does but it’s time for me to move onto something new and I know I’m probably going to regret it.

This is a great example of the NA body style of the Miata with only 128k miles on the clock and a completely clean and rust free car. First things first, I am the second owner of this vehicle as I bought it from the original owner that bought it new. It has a clean title and clean AutoCheck & Carfax history that comes with the car.

This 1993 Miata is a special and rare vehicle that is very hard to come by as they only ever made 1500 of them and to my knowledge it is one of smallest limited production of a special edition Miata that was ever made. This is a Miata LE (Limited Edition) that came in only Brilliant Black Exterior over a Dark Red Interior that is just stunning and I get compliments on it all the time. It really stands out!

It runs & drives perfect and doesn’t miss a beat. It starts right up every time you get in it and it always puts a smile on my face. I have had a couple of Miatas before this one and this one definitely is the best running and driving one I have had. I know it handles really well which is probably due to the factory upgraded suspension and limited slip differential. The engine runs as smooth and as quiet as a sewing machine. It doesn’t use a drop of oil and a look through the oil filler whole in the valve cover shows how clean the inside of the engine is. It has had new spark plugs, spark plug wires, heater hoses, serpentine belts and a couple of other little things in the last few months. There are no warning lights of any kind and it drives as straight as can be with no pulling or suspension problems at all. The suspension is tight and quiet just like it should be. It just passed a WV state inspection showing that all the suspension, brakes, lights, wipers are all in specifications and working properly. They noted that everything looked great underneath the car and I had the oil changed at that time for the most recent oil change. The one thing that they did note which is the only negative for anything mechanically is the tires are starting to dry rot but just starting because if it was severe they wouldn’t have passed it. Its barely noticeable in the tread which will be pictured. The A/C is ice cold and the heat is hot. The transmission shifts through the gears like butter and the clutch grabs good and feels like it has some decent amount of life left in it.

All of the electronics including the headlights, mirrors, windows, radio and cruise work flawlessly. The radio is a factory Pioneer Unit which sounds amazing for 1993 and even today. It is called The Mazda Sensory Sound System. It has a equalizer mounted below the radio to change the sound position to whether the top was up or down and it’s awesome! The headrest speakers in the seats work great along with bass transducer system built into the seats that makes a soothing vibration from bass notes played through the radio.

The beautiful Dark Red Leather Interior is in good shape for the age and mileage and I would give it a 8/10. The driver’s side seat has some slight wear on the outside bolster from sliding in and out, the Nardi shift knob has some decent wear from age & use, the center console cover is coming apart towards the rear of the arm rest from wear, and the steering wheel as some slight wear at the top from sun fade and use but nothing out of the ordinary at all and it’s in better shape then most of them I see for interior condition.

The stunning Brilliant Black exterior shines very well to be original paint! All of the factory vin tags are in place and all of the body panel bolts look like they have never been touched. The AutoCheck & CarFax show no accident or damage history and I believe that all of the paint is original. This car has never seen salt or snow according to the previous owner and I have never driven in the winter as it only comes out on a nice sunny days mostly in the warm months of the year and it shows on the body and the underbody of the car. There isn’t a bit of rust on anything including the suspension components and most of the hardware. Even the exhaust tip is still shiny. The rust that you normally see around the rear wheels or on the rockers is as clean as it was when it was new. This car is 100% rust free. Now with all that being said the paint isn’t perfect but for being original paint it is in very good shape for the age & mileage. It has a few minor dings in the doors, a scuff on the rear bumper, a couple of acid spots on the hood from what looks like bird droppings and the spoiler is fading out with clear coat cracking which is very common on these cars. The defects in this car can only be seen when up and very close to the car but I’m picky and want to be honest about everything. I was told the few dings that are pictured would come out with paintless dent removal but I never tried. I also think the acid spots in the paint on the hood would come out with a professional paint correction or a good wet sand. The rear bumper would need touched up or maybe painted but I didn’t do anything to the paint or body because I wanted it all original and it’s barely noticeable and didn’t bother me at all. After pointing out all the small negatives the over condition and shape of the paint is better then a lot of newer used vehicles for sure and I would give a 7/10 and if it didn’t need the paint work on the rear bumper and spoiler I would give it a 8.5 or 9 out of 10. You definitely will not be disappointed.

The black soft top is what I believe to be original and has the factory glass rear window. The top doesn’t have any holes in it and isn’t coming apart but the headliner covering part of the interior side of the top is starting to rot from age so eventually I would recommend replacing it but it will be fine for a while especially if your like me and have the top down 90% of the time. The part of the top I am talking about is also pictured. I took a ton of pictures of this car to show every detail I could and show what a timeless and stunning car it is. This car is only going to appreciate in value a time goes on as even the mass produced NA body style is in creasing in value as they are sought after and getting harder to find. Having the most rare Miata of all time is a great feeling and pride to have in your garage!

I have a clean title in hand for the new owner and the only thing I ask is please don’t bid if your not serious or don’t have the funds available. I am going to have a NO RESERVE auction on the car so the highest bidder will when and I feel like whoever gets it will be getting a amazing deal on this car! If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

I will require a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction and the full amount for the vehicle within 7 days. Please message me if you have less than 10 feedback otherwise I will cancel your bid.

Thank you for looking and good luck!

Mazda MX-5 Miata LE ( LIMITED EDITION )

First, Some history on this very special Miata:

The Miata's you may have already known, Have always been a very special car, being rated consistently in Car & Driver's 10 Best.

In the spring of 1993, The Mazda created a very special and unique Miata, The 93 LE. This "LE" was a limited edition production car, with only 1500 sequence numbered LE's made for sale in the United States.

Mazda took a fully loaded B package Miata (power mirrors, owner-assisted steering, leather-wrapped steering wheel, headrest speakers, cruise control, power windows) and added everything they could think of from a performance and cosmetic standpoint to create the LE.

The most stunning feature of the LE is the Brilliant Black car lined with a deep red interior. The seats were made of red leather, and the carpet and dash were also matched with the same color.

Aluminum trim and panels brought out the "retro look" that is making the trend in today's roadster market.

The LE was truly designed ahead of its time. The speaker kick panels have a shape reminiscent of a Harley-Davidson gas tank or a 1957 Corvette door panel.

The tweeter speaker is also mounted with an aluminum surround.

The door sills are aluminum with the "Miata" script as well.

The radio was upgraded to a Pioneer Unit from the factory with CD & Tape player as well as a equalizer for changing the position of where the sound comes out of the speakers according to whether the top was up or down and it sounds great.

Externally the LE is dressed in front air dam, rear lower skirt, and rear lip-type spoiler.

This rounded out the subtle, yet aggressive sports stance of this car.

The shift knob is wrapped in leather by Nardi.

Mazda Performance

Although the engine still is a 1.6L four cylinder, The suspension received many upgrades as well. The springs were stiffer and coupled with factory-specification Bilstein shock absorbers. This gave the LE a very "go-cart" feel.

Another highlight of the LE is the ultra-light forged aluminum BBS wheels. These 14" wheels weigh only 8.5lbs each, allowing the driver to benefit from decreased unsprung weight. On unpredictable surfaces, The viscous-type limited-slip differential keeps torque on the wheel with friction.

The anti-locking brake system (ABS) kept the tires gripped on the road during hard braking.

The soft top was the standard black vinyl, however when the top was down, thered leather boot covermade the rear deck of the LE complete. When the weather was colder, one could install the red vinyltonneau cover.
