1990 Mazda 626 LX 5-door hatchback, automatic,91,323 miles,3rd owner, 2nd driver.
The original owner purchased this car new in Washington state in 1990. He traded it in to a Seattle, WA Chevy dealer in 2012. I purchased the car from the dealer and had it shipped to me in MN. I'm technically the 3rd owner. but realistically the 2nd owner/driver.
The car had 74K miles on it when I bought it 7 years ago. It now has ~91,300 miles on it. The car is driven 2K-3K per year. so the mileage may be higher when the auction ends.
Since purchase, I've replaced nearly every mechanical item on the car that needed repair, needed replacement, or could fail. There is nothing left I can do to make the car any more mechanically perfect than it already is. It is easier to list what I have not repaired or replaced (regarding significant mechanical items) than list all that I have:
--Short block
--Head
Other than the above, every bulb - interior and exterior - and belt, seal, hose, and clamp that can be or should replaced for age or wear was.
Due to its age, the transmission was rebuilt 4 years ago.
Struts, brakes, timing belt, water pump, engine mounts, new exhaust, tires, control arms, wheel bearings, exhaust, a/c, etc., has been replaced or repaired. Included are receipts for more than $5000 in upkeep and replacements.
It's possible the cassette player doesn't work as I have no cassettes, but I doubt it: the radio and everything related to it works as it should including the power antennae.
The only 2 things not standard are 1) a transmission cooler that I had installed to extend the life of the transmission, and 2) larger and far better front-disc brakes installed as the old ones had warped. The windshield was replaced because of damage from a rock while driving, and there is currently a tiny rock chip on the driver's side of the windshield.
Every item on the car works as new except for what is listed below:
-- a burnt out dash bulb that shows the transmission's gear when it is in DRIVE
That's it. Everything else works. Power antenna power window, power locks, cruise control, a/c, heater, radio, rear-wiper (and fluid dispenser), everything.
I've driven the car cross country twice with no issues, and would drive it across the country today without hesitation.
There are no signs of any accidents. nor accident repair. The "LX" sticker on the passenger side appears to have been replaced (you must look very hard to notice) and there is slight unevenness on the body near the sticker. This is almost imperceptible. As well. there are several small nicks and chips in the body to be expected for 30 year-old car with original paint and body.
The body is a 9.5 out of 10. The paint still shines, and the chrome is in outstanding condition.
The interior has 2 stains - one on the back of the rear passenger seat, and one on the backseat passenger carpet. Otherwise the interior is a 9.5 out of 10.
I've applied Gummi Pflege Stift on all body trim seals twice a year to keep them fully formed as age and weather shrinks them. The seals throughout the car are a 9.5 out of 10.
The steering column plastic cover has discolored after 30 years, but the pictures make it seem more mismatched than it actually is.
The car has never seen snow since I have owned it, there's zero body rust, and light surface rust to be expected of a 30yr old car on some parts of the undercarriage.
The car has been kept in my climate-controlled garage since purchasing it in 2012.
All scheduled service, oil changes, tire rotations, etc., have been done on time.
The car needs nothing that I'm aware of or can think of. It's mechanically perfect, drives flawlessly, and is a rare find. This car may be the nicest 626 LX 5-door in the country.
I have the original Mazda manuals, and service records and receipts for all work and maintenance during my ownership.
The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells before auction-end. I will assist in shipping the car, but all shipping expense is paid by the winner of the auction.
Please check my feedback - I have sold several cars on Ebay and would never intentionally misrepresent any item. I have done my best to describe this car as accurately as possible.
I reserve the right to delete/block any bids from potential buyers with negative feedback or less than 10 feedback items.
Good luck!
