Rx7 GTUs with lots of Extras and goodies
1989 Mazda RX-7 Description
It is time to sell my beloved Rx7, this is one of the best cars I have ever owned, and is my "first" Rx7 so a lot of love and care went into it. It was purchased on NOV 2013 in Arizona. It was in good running condition with 119,000 miles.
The car was immediately taken to RRR motorsports down in Santa Ana for complete tune up and rebuilt. Engine/transmission/ac/breaks/power steering/mounts/etc. was completely rebuilt by Nick Van Nugteren, a specialist in rotary engines. The job was finished in 2014 and came with a 1 yearwarranty. This car has been taken down to RRR motorsports every now and then to makesure it is still dialed in.
Just in case you didn't know... The GTUs is a special limited trim level that was made from 1989 to 1990(according to the wiki only 1100 Gtus's were built) These were the light weight base models outfitted with cloth turbo model seats, 4 piston front brakes, 16inch rims,a 4.3 viscous-type LSD this allowed for quicker acceleration, and no ABS.
This car has stock interior and is in excellent condition, no rips or tears, even the automated seat belts work! although there is a missing plastic interior piece to the driver side mirror triangle.
This car is always garaged, still has the original paint and it looks great. Some plastics like the mirrors and the wing does look a little faded. For a car that is 27 years old, it still turns heads for its sharpness and great appearance.
Oil changes are done every 3,000 miles with 20w50
I added about .5 oz for every gallon with premixed tc-w3 for safety and precautionary measures.
Small modifications done to the car during/after RRR tune up/rebuild:
-Upgrade AC to R134a
-K&n filter for stock cold air intake
-Fumoto valve to make oil changes quick and easy
-Pedals are outfitted with aluminum sporty looking pedals
-TC sportline front and tear strut towers
-OMP braided stainless steel lines installed by RRR motor sports
-Code alarm CA1553 with tilt and motion sensor
-Actuators to remotely lock and unlock doors
-Focal speakers and kenwood KMM – BT315U with microphone for in car Bluetooth phone
-Switch for disconnecting battery when working on car
-Battery tender quick connect plug.
-Stance SS+ coilovers
-Ronin Rear Camber links

-Ceramic tint all over
The car does have a lot of extras because this was “planned” to be a keeper:

-Extra Rear Hatch w/glass
-Extra GTUs differential 4.3 final gear ratio
-Extra front bumper(red)-Extra rear bumper(white)-Extra misc. electronics for AC control/Hazard cluster/wiper control/turn signal/light control

For the smog concerning crowd, The car still has its ACV valves, air pumps etc. no block off plates are used. But theCatalyticConverter, stock exhaust and header has been replaced with the Racing beat true dual exhaust. The car is registered in NV as a classic rod so it is smog exempt.
I did notice that the Water temp gauge stopped working, I replaced the gauge cluster with a spare and the results were the same, theoriginalgaugecluster is installed and I was going to replace with a digital temp readout instead, I believe the water temp sensor has just gone bad and needs to be replaced. This problem happened after the rebuild, and the car has never been overheated or driven long in theVegassummer, still starts upevery timeand runs like new.
The reason for selling is that I am too busy, simply don’t have the time to really appreciate it and “work” on it, and I don’t anticipate my schedule changing anytime soon.
This car is pretty much turnkey and ready to go with a rebuilt engine of less than 5000 miles. Personal documentations on the tender loving care and repair have been kept and will be provided.
I have decided to included the Enkei RPF1 wheels with the purchase price of $8500, so you will get the stock rims as well as the Enkei Rims that you currently see in some of the pictures.
Enkei rpf1's have Michelin Pilot Sport AS3... which have less then 3000 miles on them and are attached using buddy club racing steel forged lug nuts.
I am willing to let the car and all the extras go for $7000 if I get to keep the Enkei wheels.
Please feel free to ask any questions, negotiate, or request any particular pictures!
Thank you
