Mercedes 400e 1993 NO ASR 169,278 miles Southern Car
1993 Mercedes-Benz 400-Series Description
I'm offering for sale my 1993 400e. This was my daily driver until the fan clutch broke and went through the radiator. My husband fixed that but it took him a while and so he bought me another Mercedes to drive.
We drove this car around 20,000 miles and it drives really nice. Great get up and go when you push down on the gas pedal.
As you can see from the pictures, the car needs a paint job. But what you probably can't see from the pictures is that the front fenders have a couple crinkles in them.
I was told by the previous owner that the car spent most of it's life in Washington DC where he bought it. He lived in New Jersey in 2008 the year that I bought this Mercedes.
For the first year the A/C worked good, then it started being not as cold, I don't think it works at all now.
I've been wanting to keep this car, because in a year and a month it will be considered an antique by Ohio and I'll only have to buy one more tag for it. But my husband was forced to downsize by the landlord and now he doesn't have room to store this car any longer, so I'm forced to sell. I really don't want to sell, but I have no choice in the matter. (And we really have too many cars, two e320's a 190d, and a suburban)
The car is rather dusty at this time, it is stored my husband's shop that he just cleaned out and it's been way too cold to wash and clean so she could use a good detailing.
Pro'sTires have 95+% tread left. Not a matching set, but a lot of rubber.Good running V8 with newer engine harnesssportier suspension and better brakes than other W124 chassisnew fan clutch, radiator, and water pumpseats in good condition with no major rips or tears.I know the front windows work, but I don't remember if the two back windows work or not.Sunroof worksafter market stereoABS
The following are things that need to be addressed.
Painta few small surface rust bubblesexhaust leak at resonator (could use a "y" pipe)The "B" pillars need to be reattached. The leather had gotten loose and my husband reglued it but hasn't reinstalled them.there apparently is some electrical short that drains the battery over the course of a couple days. This is something new since the fan clutch, radiator and water pump had been replaced.
So basically, this car is in need of some minor cosmetic work, it's pretty clean underneath and brake lines fuel lines all in good shape. (It's only been driven one winter in Ohio) On the highway we got about 21 MPG driving to North Carolina, so with that big V8 mileage is pretty good.
This is probably one of the finer and more respected Mercedes cars around. The W124 chassis had major improvements over the W123 (and W126 for that matter)
I love driving this car and will be sad to see it leave.
