1960 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 220SE Ponton Cabriolet W128 Description

A Beautifully restored 1960 Mercedes 220SE "Ponton" Cabriolet that has been refinished in its correct original DB158 (Gray/White) Glasurit paint over Luxurious 1088 (Red) leather interior. This Rare Mechanically Fuel injected 40,780 mile Cabriolet is only one of 1,112 Cabriolets ever produced. It was purchased from a collector out of Mississippi over 2 years ago and has recently completed a 2 year cosmetic restoration and mechanical sorting. The original and recently serviced 2.2 liter (2195 cc) straight 6-Cylinder runs silky smooth and the 4-speed manual column-mounted transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. 5 brand new Coker BF Goodrich Silvertown extra wide whitewall tires and new brakes also help make for a joyful ride.

The beautiful paint has a deep brilliant shine with only a few minor blemishes present. The original chrome bumpers and grill are excellent and the chrome trim moldings very presentable showing only some oxidation in a couple areas. The black German Canvas convertible top and wool headliner are brand new and make the Ponton look as good with the top on as it does off. The solid rust free undercarriage has been blasted and professionally undercoated. The original and unrestored engine compartment and trunk have been detailed and look very tidy.

The interior is as breathtaking as the exterior. It has been completely redone with brand new red leather seats, Wilton Wool Carpeting with leather trim and matching floor mats, new leather door panels, rear deck lid area and leather parade boot. All of the wood is original and although not perfect it presents very well. An original Becker Europa is present but just recently seems to be inoperable. A decorative vintage speaker fabric was added as well as a new Hirschmann manual antenna. Original Spare wheel and jack are also included.
