1979 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 450 Description

1979 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL450 Hard and soft top

This beautiful Maple Yellow (paint code 606) exterior and Palomino interior (code 134) is a classic color combo. This little “Roadster” has a 4.5L V-8 with an automatic transmission, it’s easy to see it’s been very well maintained and serviced throughout its entire life with only 81,606 miles on it. It’s one of the last years for a cast iron block and double timing chains that keep it reliable. The factory owner manuals are original and included along with a receipts of all work done going back to 1984. In fact, the engineers who designed it nicknamed it “der Panzerwagen” as one of their specifications was to meet or exceed stringent safety regulations that threatened to force the roadster body style into permanent extinction. This Mercedes is a desert car with solid body, rocker panels and floor and trunk pans, no rust. Both hard and soft tops are in great shape and seal completely.

It is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, power antenna, am-fm, air conditioning (blows cold) and heated seats. This was a nonsmoker’s car and you can tell it was some ones pride and joy. The trunk has the original spare wheel and tire with all of the jacking hardware. The first aid kit and all of the original manuals go with the car. Everything works as it should on the car and it runs and drives very nice.

Built in a time when Mercedes-Benz was truly and uniquely synonymous with “quality”… as they remained alone at the top of the luxury automotive

This 450sl sold for around $32,000 in 1979

Yes the cow hide is a seat cover, the seats look great underneath.
