1966 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Description
As the intended replacement for the legendary 300SL and its baby brother 190SL, he Mercedes Benz 230SL (113 chassis) of 1963 represented nothing less than a reinvention of the sports car. It could be driven at high speeds without requiring heroics from the driver, ut it was also pleasant to drive in the stop and go traffic that was becoming increasingly common on Europe's roadways in the early 1960's. The shape of the removable steel roof gave the car its enduring nickname: the Pagoda. The car was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in 1963, squared off two seat car powered by a sohc 2.3 liter six cylinder engine with 150hp. The car had better handling, astly improved comfort, nd a higher level of options than the predecessor SL cars. Road and Track delivered the consummate summation of the SL by writing “For those who value engineering finesse and high quality construction, t is alone in its field.”
This 1966 MB SL 230 matching numbers vehicle has undergone a high quality cosmetic restoration to original build sheet specifications – new paint (DB 568 signal red), ardtop re, ew parchment interior, efinished wood veneer, nd new black convertible top. The engine, ngine bay, nd trunk have been detailed to Show condition. The updated Alpine radio is the only thin not original on this car. The body is solid with no rust visible. Tools and manuals and a lots of records are included. A set of chrome wheels will be included as well . The car runs and drives 100% and has no know problems.
