If you have been looking for that "issue free" 560 for your collection, this is the car. This car is completely rust and corrosion free. The car has the original soft top in beautiful shape as well as the never used hard top and stand. The car shows very well. The car has no paint work work and the interior shows as new as it could be for being 30 years old. No bolsterwear, no dash cracks, perfect veneers! Ice cold A/C. This car was always kept in a climate controlled garage and was never driven in foul weather. The clear coat is blemish free and this car has so much going for it, you'd have to see it to appreciate it. The car has also the very rare and sought after rear jump seat option with seat belts. This is a dealer installed option and is very hard to come by.
Here is a few tips on buying a R107. Don't buy a car with no service records, that is akin to marrying a woman you met last night and know nothing about. Carfax and Autocheck should be spotless. Timing chain and rails should have been replaced. The plastics degrade over time and fall apart, with age, not mileage, and when they do fail, it turns your engine into a paper weight. To do properly, this is a $2,500maintenance item that needs to be done on every SL.Don't waste your time on a car that does NOT have this done. Or budget accordingly. Moreover, thesubframe mounts are made of a similar polymer and degrade as well, leaving your SL not driving asrigid as it should. You might not even realize it is a issue until you drive a SL with new subframe mounts :-)
A cross reference of the maintenance records with the carfax and Autocheck show the owner moved twice, it is not a 3 owner car, but a one owner car ending up in Minnesota and I brought it to IL.
Below is a video of me ranting about these items and a little bit of a buyers guide on these cars. I have been around them for a very long time and have owned over 100 of them.
Also, you will find a video we put together for the car. Enjoy, and please, if youdon't buy thiscar buy a car that has been mechanically gone through, so youdon't end up with a paperweight engine or are ridden with downtime while your car is in gettingdeferredmaintenance taken care of. This car is fullyserviced and ready to go. Any questions call me at 773 621-4087
