Mercedes-Benz 280C W114
1973 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Description
This is a great restoration base or daily driver. The car was painted several years ago by a previous owner and the clear coat is beginning to peel. The car still get looks and compliments where ever I go. I have been using the car as a daily driver since receiving it in a package deal I made on another vehicle. It has been fun to drive such a comfortable old car. It is a running, driving, stopping car, but to be clear it has been storage in the past years so I would look at this vehicle as a daily driver project. The transmission needs a new module or adjustment of the existing. It shifts fine just a little harder than it should. The other issue is the problematic Solex 4A1 carburetor. This one has the typical issues of rough idle and secondaries not operative. I would suggest finding another Solex or considered a weber conversion. Both are definitely a DIY project. The A/C is intact, but probably need to be converted to modern coolant and seals. Motor has plenty of power to keep up with modern traffic. This is the second year for the dual overhead cam 2.8L six cylinder. Interior is in good condition...maybe in need of a cleaning. There is rust in the car, but very repairable. Overall this is not a perfect car, but a very good start of a fun project. NOTE: The odometer is inoperable so I am not sure about the actual mileage on the car. These cars are only going up in value. Please ask any questions before you bid. Thanks.
