While putting up the canvas soft top we checked the stamping on the clear plastic, and we were astonished to discover that this top is the vehicle's original factory soft top! Click here to view a picture of the stamp.

Cognac MB Tex interior is all original, and the original fire wall pad is in exceptionally nice condition. Absolutely no cracks on the dashboard. Original wood; never redone! Trunk floor is in perfect original condition and has never been "touched up," spotted or repainted! Of course it comes with its original spare tire cover and all five matching wheels!

Includes the original dealer installed AC, though it's not currently present in the engine bay. A valve job was performed due to age and dried out valve seals, at which time we cleaned up the entire block and detailed the engine. Other work done on the car includes: new water pump, new water thermostat, new water and heater hoses, and the radiator was serviced. Notice in the pictures below how the trunk bolts have clearly never been removed, as should be expected from an original car. You can also see the original 5 mm sheet metal screws that hold the inner black grilles and factory spot welding on the front nose panel.

This is one of the best examples of an original car we have ever seen in 35 years of collecting cars. The original tool bag in brown German canvas still in the heat sealed clear vinyl cover with its original black letters ''280SL'' from 1969, therefore we believe that the tool bag has never been opened. The car runs perfect with no leaks! The only thing keeping this car from being flawless, unfortunately, is that the service records are missing, but I'm in the process of acquiring whatever records I can from the original owner's son.

Also includes the original Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) report from 1969, completed by Mercedes-Benz dealer, Lloyd Pearson, which you can see in the picture below.
