1968 MERCEDES BENZ 200 Diesel ( One of a Kind )
1968 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series all trim Description
I purchased this 200 Mercedes from an estate sale, being parked & stored in a big garage in NC sinse 1989 . Entirely rust, rot & bondo free vehicle, fantastic ' time warp ' condition. Original 13" tires ! I completely refurbished the car from ' ground to roof ' in its entirety -- over a 2 yr. period.
Expensive . I replaced the Bakalite components with 220 & 300SE sedan wood, NOS dash, all new seat covers, head rests, NOS head liner, 2 arm rests, Becker Radio, Lumbar front seat supports, package tray nets, wooden center console tray, 300SE under dash console, New Dash Pad ect. ect. 300 Wood Door/Window and dash trim. Too much to list.
Mechanically -- I completely re-did all the brakes, 4 lines, calipers, bearings, struts, tie rods, clutch slave cylinder, clutch pressure plate, brake master cylinder, all rubber mounts muffler, All Engine hoses, primer, pre-heat, new alternator, 4 glow plugs, 4 injectors --all NEW . Ect. Ect. All new rubber seals ( windows & 4 doors,4 thresholds, ) 220 & 300 door interior components ( see photos ) . Brakes, 4 new shock absorbers, Brake Calipers, shoes and hoses are all new. Paint is original -- I would suggest a new paint re-spray. No rust known or seen. 4 Side Marker Lights -- not reflectors. New under coating. Mileage is estimated.
I believe this 200 Diesel was one of the very last 200's to be built ( w-110 ) as its got the new W-108 floors !! Not the standard W-110 floor panels ! No rot or damage anywhere -- all rocker box's are excellent . I re chromed the bumpers ( Graves Plating ) and installed the 2 European fog lights and NOS European turn signal/fog light combinations . Overall -- my 200 Diesel is a strong and safe car to own & drive -- and should easily pass any German TUV Inspection . I will assist buyer with Export issues FOB Wilmington, NC USA. I would suggest putting this Diesel in a sea container to export.
Note: The German License Plate nor the German grill badges will -- Not accompany -- the car's sale. Clear North Carolina Title. I'm second owner.
I collect I restore the W-111 and W-112 sedans as a hobby -- and its time to thin out the flock ! Questions, comments, ect. -- please E-mail me for answers. No trades or discounts please. Additional spare parts are available for sale.
