1959 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description
This auction is for a 1959 Mercedes 300d, also referred to as the Adenauer. This car has a very RARE, factory original metal sliding sunroof and was equipped with air conditioning. This car needs a complete cosmetic restoration and a medium mechanical refurbishment. Please see my description below and look at the pictures thoroughly. I do have additional pictures available for anyone who is a serious bidder.
Physically, the car is virtually rust free from what we can see. The body is clean. The trunk looks good. The passenger side spare tire well shows minor rust. The rockers look solid. There is a small spot of paint bubbling on the right rear door. Otherwise the car does not show any other signs of rust. Please look at what I was able to show in the pictures.
The car looks to have the original dark grey non-metallic paint (DB190G). It comes with the original light grey leather interior. The sunroof panel is with the car, but will need some repair from being damaged previously. The interior will need complete refurbishment. The rear seats are out of the car and some of the door panels. These are included. Please see pictures.
Mechanically, it will need a full service from sitting in storage for all these years. The car had a new cylinder replaced before going into storage. The owner also claimed the transmission was rebuilt at that time. The car comes with a new factory fuel pump that is still wrapped in plastic. The air cleaner is not on the car, but is included. Please see pictures.
Although there are some parts removed, the car is 99% complete. The only parts THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED are the radio and the hood star. We may find those as we remove the car from storage and if they are discovered, they will be included in this auction. Please see pictures.
Again, please see the pictures carefully to see the parts that ARE INCLUDED in this auction that are off the vehicle presently, but are included in this sale. They are as follows:
- Front chrome grille (pictured)
- All 4 Hubcaps (2 in trunk, 1 on car, 1 hanging on wall)
- Front bumper
- Rear bumper
- Tail lights (in trunk)
- Rear seat
- Door panels
- Rear air conditioner (I am being told the A/C is there. I have not seen it yet, but the condenser is mounted in front of the radiator, so I remain hopeful. My client has always included all the parts to the other cars I have bought.)
If you are a serious buyer, please call me to discuss. I have more pictures of the undercarriage to share...eBay will allow me to show 24 pictures in an auction. I will email you more pictures.
This car has spent most of its life in Texas. The car was last titled in Texas in 1983. The owner had owned the car almost 35 years. It was previously owned by Mr Tandy, the founder of Radio Shack electronic stores.
I will pull this car out of storage to prep it for shipping. I will make sure that all four tires are up and holding air. All the parts listed, including any other parts we find will be packed inside the car for shipping. I can deliver assist with getting the car to your shipper. If the car is going out of Houston, I can personally deliver the car for a nominal fee.
Please call me at 817-715-6163 if you have any questions. I do not have time to return many emails, so please try to call me first. Remember to call me to discuss. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Thanks and happy bidding!
