1989 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series 560sec Description

This auction is for 2 cars.

I have a pair of 1989 Mercedes Benz W126 560’s for sale.

One black on black 560SEC coupe and one white over gray 560SEL sedan. I purchased the 560SEC coupe in Arizona some time ago with minor issues that needed sorting out. Then I came across the 560SEL here in New Mexico and it seemed to have everything I needed to perfect the coupe. But the sedan is really very nice and I don’t have the heart to take it apart, it just needs some sorting out too and you would have a very nice set of Benzes. I am more of a Ford and occasional Chevy/ Mopar guy. While I think these are terrific cars, I don’t have the expertise or patience to do the sorting. Both cars are very original, straight, rust free cars wearing all original panels. Both cars sat for some time before I got them and were garaged.

The Black 560SEC coupe has about 128k miles. It runs and drives fine. It has some hesitation on hard throttle but is not noticeable in normal driving. The A/C blows cold. Idles fine, shifts correctly, brakes and tires are good. The windows all work, correct stereo works, sunroof works. Known issues are all minor: passenger seat bottom does not move, but it’s in a good position, back works correctly. Passenger power mirror does not work. Outside temp gauge does not come on. Heater does not work. Rear window shade is off track. Central locking will work about 10 times after battery reset, then no more so it has a leak but the compressor functions. Power antenna does not work. Paint is good but it probably needs to be buffed out better, it has one small spot where the clearcoat is failing on the hood. One chrome rim is delaminating slightly, another has rather bad curb rash. No cracks on the dash, interior wood trim is average. This car was originally from Las Vegas, NV and then Southern Arizona so it is perfectly rust free and it was always garaged so the rubber and leather is in good condition, it is not unreasonably sunbaked.

The White 560SEL has just under 171k miles. It runs rough but the idle seems correct. It likes to hold onto gears too long, and comes with a new transmission filter and gasket. The A/C compressor is seized, and no A/C belt. Power steering whines. Aside from those issues it seems really very good. The interior is in excellent shape except the front armrest and one small crack on the dash. Paint is in good shape but could use a polish, just a few small dings. It still has the rear footrests, the rear reclining seat works, windows all work, sunroof works, heated seats work. Wheels and tires are good. Aftermarket stereo and cell phone installed. This one has a giant folder of receipts. It was originally from Phoenix and then Southern New Mexico. Obviously always garaged.

Both of these cars are absolutely worth spending some time on and preserving, they would make great drivers or worth putting in a collection. Please e-mail with any questions. vin in listing is not accurate, e-mail for correct VIN's.
