1964 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 220 See Description

Selling this 1964 Mercedes 220SEb without reserve.

The Mercedes 220SEb was built on the worlds first chassis with designed-in 'crumple zones', that would absorb energy from a collision before the impact could intrude on the passenger compartment. This Sedan also known as finback or finial, featured a number of engineering advances, many of which set standards for passenger safety. The spacious interior provides excellent visibility and limousine like travel experience. This survivor car currently runs well- the bullet proof straight six cylinder engine and transmission are known to survive a quarter million miles and more. Nearly every mechanical required to keep this car on the road is still available through Mercedes Benz and other retail stores as well as from a number of dedicated Mercedes Benz parts suppliers. This sale includes valuable additional parts, glass & trim. The car is sitting on new tires along with the original hub caps. As the photos indicate, there are the usual blemishes expected on an all original 53 year old paint. The body is straight- everything is there, this is a complete honest car. All that is needed are some rear brake shoes and a brake booster (I have just ordered a new brake booster). The interior needs restoration but all mechanicals work. Due to relocating to South Carolina I am unable to complete the project. According to an article published in the Mercedes Benz Club of america 'star Magazine' the finials

'are beginning to be recognized by collectors for their underlying quality and appreciated for the distinctiveness of those small styling touches'Thefinials are among the best values in the classic sedan line-up, offering opportunity for appreciation invalue.
My work is very busy and I don't have time for this project.Buyer is responsible for transport, and of course this is sold without any warranties written or implied and no return. Deposit is non-refundable

I have received an email from a person who looked at the car. So I would like to let him speak as a Vintage Mercedes owner:

One of the selling points of your car is the engine - it ran incredibly smooth. Is there a way for you to include a link to a short video of that engine purring? Most 1964 cars have been sitting for years & will require expensive & time consuming efforts to get running. Then you have to pray that if it starts, there are not a host of issues like caves, rods, rings...You have a bullet-proof engine capable of doing many more miles. Mike
