1973 Mercedes-Benz 400-Series Super Light Description

Up for bids is a 1973 Mercedes Benz 450 SL roadster. This little beauty has both the Soft Top and Hardtop options, with the soft top frame hidden in the body of the car.
These things are getting snatched up on a daily basis, finding an affordable one that's running and driving is even harder.

It has the original 4.5l v8 and it always fires right up. Even after sitting for a while. It runs like a champ. It has the original vinyl bonnet for use with the tops are off or down. It could use a good cleaning but seems to be intact. The Good:Strong running V8 makes for a sporty driving experience in this super light (SL) car.Body is straight and presents well.Runs and Drives wellLooks to be complete and correctObviously well maintained and considerable $$ was put into the engine getting it sorted.Seats and Headrests are in decent conditionAC even blows cold.
Not so good:The clear coat is peeling and cracking in a couple places. It looks like it's had a respray on the paint, and they did a pretty decent job of it. I'm thinking it was originally cream/beige in color. It could probably use a tune-up.Needs a passenger side front half floor pan (I think a barn cat made this floorboard its potty spot, the other floorboards just have a little surface rust, or none at all) Undercarriage and supports all look solid.Needs a carpet setNew soft top will be needed. (Frame is intact in the car, and in excellent condition. It just needs the fabric top.)Passenger window just stopped working.. may just be a fuse.Spare tire has a bad valve stem and won't hold air.Small piece of the chrome trim on Hard top has become separatedDoor chrome trim broken. One small tear in the Driver seat
I bought this a couple years ago thinking it would be a quick project for the wife. I've since bought other projects and this one has to go.
