Strong Mercedes 300D-Turbo with Veg-Oil Conversion
1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description
Mostly highway miles.
More responsive than most 300-D Turbos.
Almost no smoke at startup even when engine is cold.
Transmission smooth and solid.
Alignment done a few hundred miles ago.
Tires have low miles, no cracking, plenty of tread.
Has only been driven three times for the past year, except for religiously starting and moving it back and forth at least every two weeks.
Sunroof and windshield seals great, does not leak.
All windows, dials and lights work; sunroof, clock and glove box work.
Ceiling fabric in great shape.
Leather Seats in decent condition, two small holes but the stuffing is intact and supportive.
Interior fabric (floor mats etc) has stains, but decent.
No smog check required!
Veg Oil System:
Vehicle pays for itself when you run on SVO/WVO.
Great for daily driver on Diesel, BioDiesel or Straight Vegetable Oil, and with the huge marine fuel tank you can go many hundreds of miles without refueling.
Veg oil conversion done by the infamous David Pham in east Oakland, a former 19 year Mercedes dealer mechanic with a speciality in veg-oil conversions.
Copper tubing within fuel line from rear tank, solenoid valve, Vormax water separator/10 micron filtration system, Vegtherm in-line fuel heater, Dash-mounted WVO fuel switch and Vegtherm switch.
All fuel lines replaced with Viton hoses.
Known Minor Issues:
Some dents to sides and small rust spots, see photos.
Side mirrors: driver's side is cracked but clear, passenger side is loose.
The driver's door has a funky door stop, makes a noise.
The rear driver's side door stop is broken, but no trouble closing any doors.
Working A/C converted to r134a by Marin Auto Service in Petaluma, but needs to be refilled.
Grab strap above front passenger door broke off, have not reinstalled, but still have the strap.
Power Antenna broke off in car wash, have not replaced.
