mercedes-benz cars trucks
1980 Mercedes-Benz Other Description
I imported this truck from germany 10 years ago. I live in denver colorado. The sun has bleached out the paint since it got to the state. The paint is very thick and was reflective so the sun did a number on it. The sun cracked the paint in some places and there is light surface rust where the metal was exposed. The metal is not rotten it rains very little in denver. I bought the truck to use as a electrical installation truck. It is a big heavy truck. I love it but I currently shut down my electrical company and no longer have a need for it. It drives just like a big VW bus. I wanted to hold onto it and make it into a camper project but I just dont have the time. Its top speed is about 60 mph. This is because it is geared very low. I was told you could change out the rear gear ratio but its not something I ever looked into. I had the fire truck water pump removed off the front of the truck. The pump is shaft driven off the engine. It also has a engine elder lever that I re located into the cab of the truck. The pump is included in the auction and is in the back of the truck. It has a large 4 cylinder diesel engine in it that runs very well. Its not leaking anything . Currently the starter relay/ solinoid is broken. My machanic says its a easy fix. The truck was running 6 moths ago with zero issues. He started to look up the parts but it has not been fixed yet. When I bought it I had dropped the gas tank and had it professionally cleaned out and all new filters put in. It has two big new batteries in it that are about 2 years old. The truck was sitting at my shop and some kids smashed the windshield on it. Windshields are still available for the truck out of europe and shipped to the usa, Or you can get a poly windshield custom cut. Please ask any questions you may have on the truck. Its a very solid mercedes truck. It just needs a little tlc that I just dont have.
