What makes 1973 Model so special, is that 1973 was the last year of Small Euro Bumpers being fitted on US-Spec R107 SL’s…1974 onward US models were fitted with less attractive big US spec safety bumpers, and power robbing emission controls laden engines!

Now that the W113 230/250/280SL's have become priced out of sight, here comes the early 450SL.As recently as the mid 1990's, and early 2000’s you could pick up a nice condition 1971 280SL Pagoda Roadster for around $20,000.Almost in the blink of an eye, that's what a basket case now goes for - with good condition examples regularly selling north of $75k and more.

Body is solid and in good shape besides a front right fender being hit and that fender was recently replaced with another factory right front fender.All doors, trunk line up properly, and they are operating with ease. All chrome is in nice shape as well.

Original Factory VIN number stamping on the front radiator support shows originality of this SL!Another sign of originality is matching Data Number Stamping on the hard top and the data card.

This Mercedes comes with the hard top! A must have if you live or travel where there is significant snowfall.Hard top is in great shape, including the headliner and all the glass.

Rare and highly desirable wood dash compliments the blue interior very well. Seats are very supportive and comfortable!

The car will be sold with from the State of California Transfer Official Paperwork and a Bill of Sale and related paperwork from the CaliforniaDealership that I purchased it from. A Salvage title from the State of California is easy to obtain and would allow it to be shipped overseas, should you desire. The car drives easily and we can assist you to load upon a trailer.
As you can see the vehicle needs a good cleaning both inside and out and this would help to bring this car back to its original glory. Some dents and dings. Fortunately, this car is Smog exempt in the People's Republic of California.

We have the right to end the auction early and to sell locally. Ebay is a useful way to promote and list vehicles but we also will sell the vehicle through other modalities. If the vehicle sells outside of Ebay, we will immediately cancel the auction because of this. We reserve the right to end the auction early and sell to a good buyer on Ebay. You may be curious about all of this. It takes several hours to learn of vehicles that will come up for estate auction or surplus.
