Up for sale is a 1989 Mercedes 560SL in white with Middle Red interior. It is the original interior without any modifications or upgrades. The seat covers are the only 2 items inside the vehicle that will need to be refreshed or replaced, if you want them to be perfect. The drivers seat has a hole in it on the left side of theback of the seat. Carpets are in very good condition and unless you are restoring the vehicle fully, you will not need to touch them. The vehicle comes with its original floor mats which are not in photos, but the drivers mat is the only one that is not in very good condition. The passengers mat is in good shape. The wood is in excellent condition. No discoloration or cracks. In fact you will be impressed with the woods condition for a vehicle this age. The headliner is in very good condition, so the entire hard top is in pretty good condition overall. The dash has 3 cracks exactly where it usually cracks. It is best to put one of those $119 top covers and make it look brand new. Those really work great on these cars and I had done that with my other SL's. Door panels are excellent. Really in good shape.
The vehicles exterior is very straight. It shoes no dents, no door dings, extremely straight body. You look at most vehicles from an angle, even much newer ones and the body has so much imperfection, waves and dings which are caused from inconsiderate motoriststhat park next to your vehicle and just open the door on to your car or push a shopping cart to your car. This car does not have any of that which may be surprising but on the other hand the paint is not all shiny. It is clear and nice but the clear coat does not shine as it would be on a perfect body vehicle. If the new owner decides to repaint, the best part is that no body work will be required. It makes the paint job so much easy when the body shop does not have to fix dents and dings than paint. This paint job will be pretty inexpensive, if you decide to make the car perfect.
Bumpers are in very good shape, back and front but the lower spoiler in the front was broken from a curb. This part is replaceable separately since it is not part of the bumper. Grille and glass are in very good shape. All headlight and tail lights, along with the side markers and fog flights are in very good shape. Wheels are discolored as you see in photos but the tires are all matching and new so you may either have them painted if you'd like or get new off eBay, about a $550 expense.
Please take in to consideration that most sellers would not disclose cars in such detail and most likely most vehicles this age would have such expenses, that are not disclosed.
Engine compartment shows that this car has a pretty clean engine. The cover inside the hood is missing, which is the heat insulation pad. The vehicle will need an oil change soon in about 1200 miles. It will also require brake change. These are things I am not going to do prior selling the vehicle since I already priced it low to sell. Over all the vehicle is a good one. It drives and accelerates well. Handles fine. I really love driving this vehicle. The SL really is a special car. I was not able to take the hard top off since I had no help to take photos of the soft top.
This is not a show room condition vehicle. Those vehicles are at $35000 plus these days. This is a great every day driver or a good restoration project if I were to underestimate a little not to exaggerated in my description. It will be a great car if you are a small collector and want to slowly make it perfect. Do not buy the vehicle thinking its a perfect A plus car. Please keep in mind that cars look a little better in photos. I want to make sure my buyer is happy. Thank you
