1990 Mercedes Benz 300CE Coupe w/AMG trim Carlsson Wheels Custom Upgrades
1990 Mercedes-Benz E-Class AMG Description
LOW RESERVE. LOW RESERVE***
Highest Bidder will get this car. Please DO NOT bid if you are not 100% ready to buy and have the funds to purchase. I will sell the car for whatever the highest bid is so please only bid if you intend on purchasing.
Up for sale in this listing is a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300CE Coupe with AMG trim, exhaust and 24 valve inline 6 cylinder motor. This is a running and driving vehicle, however it is 27 years old. This car needs some minor tune, fit and finishing to be a daily, long distance reliable driving vehicle. If you do not have the knowledge and experience to work on cars or the means to afford parts and a mechanic, this probably is NOT the vehicle for you.
With that out of the way, this car is solid, no rust or "major" issues. Car has great bones to be enjoyed as is or restored. It's a great base for something unique as a build or to resto-mod. I had purchased this car to do a V8 swap for my wife several years ago but she passed away suddenly and this project has sat in storage ever since. I have recently decided to sell and have taken it out of storage and started grooming the vehicle for sale. I will list to the best of my ability the "pros and cons" of the car and I am sure the buyer will be very happy and enthused when the action ends. Feel free to message me and for serious bidders I can also email any additional information and pictures, etc you may need.
A $500 deposit within 48 hours for buyer via paypal,...and this is non-refunable if you back out of the sale.
pros:very soild rust free chassis. Clean underneath as well as inside and out.
comes with the larger dual overhead cam 24 valve 3.0 inline 6 motor in good running order with only minor tune up and diagnostic work to have it run 100% smoothly.
AMG(real) fiberglass body kit(might have been a dealer installed option since this car's VIN does come back as AMG but doesn't have every amg option and makes me think there should be more research done in this area to confirm this as true).
18" staggered Carlsson forged wheels(ebay sells used at $2500 plus-great value added to this car just in wheels). these wheels are factory finished in silver under the black plasti-dipped coating currently on the wheels which can be removed. as can the black plastic coating on the front chrome grill and emblem.
very custom dynomax 2.5" exhaust system with true amg tips.
custom cold air intake.
new or recent:radiatorupgraded cross drilled and slotted barkes with ceramic pads and new sensorscoolant expansion tank and sensorwindow tintshift knobfuel injector orings and sleeves
cons:older vehicle that needs TLC.
paint overall is 7 out of 10. expect chips, dings, scratches, stress marks. rear trunk lid and front bumper needs the most attention, but still looks great for 27 years old.
transmission needs another governor. these are easily sourced and I have replaced several times. when I bought the car it wouldn"t shift out of 1st gear,..replaced the governor and drove it many miles. when it acts up, its usually the salvaged governor and currently it has a slow engagement into 3rd gear. it still can be driven, but takes a let up and re-engagement of the gas pedal to get the 3rd gear clutch pack to grab tightly.windshield has two linear cracks from washing hot car. my state doesn't require replacement to inspect so I never replaced. they are hardly noticeable.
Carfax is clean, however has a odometer mistake. I purchased the car in GA, but was living in MA. when I transferred the plate to my MA registration, I was read the incorrect mileage. so it was recorded as a odometer discrepancy. mileage is correct up until recently where the odometer has stopped clocking. but I have only put on local mileage since the stop,..so it would only be off 100 miles or less. so odometer needs looking at to be functional again.
rear tires are dry cracked but currently I drive on them.
drivers seatbelt presenter has been repaired(I will try to install before sale)
passenger seat functions all except the front to back motor.
engine needs tuning. there is some flutter in certain rpm ranges and the mass air meter sometime sticks and keeps idle high.
there is a nice cd head unit, but the speakers are original and do not work anymore.
a/c is complete but does not work. needs climate switch, charging, and dryer. the compressor is ok
smog pump is sometimes noisy.
dual electric fans are functional, but don't come on anymore,..probably the well known circuit board fix.
drivers rear window regulator inoperative.
I have listed out everything I can think of and I am selling this as honestly as I can. It is a wonderful vehicle for its age and a great base to start a project or cruise around your town. bidding ebayers will have access to my phone number by request if they would like to speak to me first hand about the car.
Shipping: You are responsible for local pickup or make arrangements to have a vehicle shipping company come to my house after full payment is received.
