1973 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Description

For sale is a 1973 Mercedes 280.

I'm the fourth owner, the first being Harry Truman's Daughter who had it garaged as a vacation vehicle. This adds no value, but is a fun fact.

Pros to this beautiful car:

The paint is all-original with that Mercedes ivory white. Some scratches and dings, but in very good shape.

Tires are brand new.

Battery is brand new.

Carbs recently serviced with tuning and new jet and seal

Front struts were replaced 2 years ago.

All services done while in my possession done by German Motor Car Services in Santa Monica. He works on high-end Mercedes classics for much of Southern California.

Low Mileage for a car of this vintage. Previous owner had it at 40k miles odometer stopped working at 45k. No way to prove this of course but based on the condition of the engine mechanic says it should be true.

Previous owner repair records available as well.

New speakers and stereo system located under the passenger seat, so the original Becker stereo still sits in front.

This is a 45 year old classic car, so there may be issues I’m unaware of, but it has been regularly serviced and all current mechanical issues attended to.

I am writing down the current issues to the best of my ability. Please refer to pictures, video, and descriptions below, and message with any questions.

Needs a new muffler.

Has a 1inch scratch on the driver’s side door

Has various dents on chrome trim rear and side

Damaged floor upholstery on driver’s side. Was damaged when I received it. It's from someone's foot wearing through by the gas pedal. See pic

Side view Mirror lining is cracked.

Rear view mirror has flaking

Fraying cloth on window tracks (common classic Benz issue)

Small hole in ceiling upholstery on the rear passenger side. See pic

Peeling heat vent on dashboard. See pic.

Cracked blinker light on rear passenger side repaired with glue.

Odometer and clock not working.
