1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300D Turbo Description
This 300d turbo entered service on a five year lease in Virginia and was first titled to a Va/Florida couple in 1989 who owned the car until 2018. I am the second owner. This was the daily driver of the lady who was in her late 70's or early 80's at the time of its sale. As such, you can understand just how well this vehicle was maintained and serviced when any issue needed attention and was always garaged. The body has 176k plus miles on it and continues to be driven. The engine has an estimated 80-85k miles according to the original owner who explained that an oil line was broken and his wife continued to drive the car resulting in engine failure. It was replaced by a Mercedes Benz factory rebuilt engine and installed by a Mercedes dealer. The engine is very smooth and strong in town or on the interstates. Keeping up with the traffic is no problem driving and riding nicely at 80. No issues with this one as all systems work as intended. The power windows work, the power sunroof works, the door locks works, instrument gauges work with the exception of the clock. I have not repaired the clock as the dash is so nice I do not want to remove the panel. Interior lights work, exterior lights work, signal lights works, even the cruise control works which is highly unusual for a non-restored Mercedes. Glass is good, brakes are good, horn works, windshield sprinkler system works, head liner is nice, carpets are original and clean, dash is clean with no cracks, seats and interior are very good with no tears. The transmission shifts smooth and quiet. A new a/c system including the compressor, dryer and expansion vaule was installed this past week. The paint is good and generally original. There may be limited repaint, some clear coat fractures with normal dings and chips for this age vehicle. Five Michelin tires with approximately 5000 miles, Very good records maintained beginning in the late 90's after the engine installation. All in all, this is a sharp, eye catching and mechancially sound automobile that will serve you a lifetime with good maintanance. Car located in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Fly into the West Palm Beach, Fl. airport and drive the 300d home where ever that is or I will provide limited assistance to your shipper. Serious buyers may call or text me at 843-340-0530 if you have questions or want additional pics.
There is a grade of 20 given in the scoring box. Florida apparently understands the odomoter to have five digits, it is a 6 digit odometer. Once mileage goes over 5 digits or 100k miles, the reports states that it exceeds mechancial limits which results in a downgrade. This is the official comment as stated on Carfax for the reading EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS: "A vehicle with a 5 digit odometer cannot accurately track mileage after 99,999 miles because the odomoter rolls over. This title is the result of a seller certifying under the Federal Odometer Act, that the odometer reading EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS of the odometer". The mileage listed is correct. John
