1987 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series *NO RESERVE*300TD TDT Wagon*RARE* Description

1987 Mercedes-Benz

300TD Turbodiesel Wagon

Extraordinarily rare and highly sought after 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300 Turbodiesel Wagon. The 1987 model year of this W124 wagon was the only year it was offered in diesel form, making it incredibly special. This is by far one of the most reliable and robust engines Mercedes-Benz ever produced and the W124 wagon chassis is equally as impressive.

Unlike other vintage vehicles for sale that have been sitting for long periods of time, with questionable reliability, this has been my daily long-distance commuter and always meticulously maintained. This 300TD starts at the turn of the key in any weather and the 3.0 L Turbodiesel Inline 6 cylinder engine runs incredibly strong, smooth and quiet with no blow-by or smoke from the exhaust. When accelerating the Garrett turbocharger spools up perfectly and delivers an impressive amount of power. The steering and suspension are tight, with no rattles or vibration. The brakes are firm and grip evenly all the way around with no vibration. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. All four Michelin tires are well-balanced and have plenty of tread remaining. This wagon cruises perfectly straight and achieves an impressive 450 miles per tank.

Having just had a complete servicing with new synthetic oil, oil filter, and fuel filter change, I would feel perfectly comfortable driving this vehicle across country today. A large folder containing extensive service records dating back several years will accompany the car. All of the sensors and electronics work correctly and there are no warning lights displayed on the dash. A few items including the right rear window, power antenna and cruise control will need attention, along with a small oil leak coming from the line feeding the turbocharger. The air conditioner was converted to R134, blows ice-cold and the climate control works properly but will require a new blower motor. The radio was upgraded to a nice Alpine USB compatible unit with new Pioneer speakers. All of the power locks work properly including the rear hatch and the lock tumbler for the ignition was recently replaced including new keys (large job). This car smells clean on the inside with no odors of diesel or smoke.

This wagon runs and drives like one with less than 100k miles on it and is sure to last another several hundred thousand miles with proper care. Because of their extreme rarity, similar W124 300TD Wagons routinely sell for well over $10k. This is a No Reserve auction and means that you can own this excellent example for far less than what others are commanding. Although in overall great condition, this is a vintage car and will naturally show signs of use and age. Please refer to the more than 60 high-resolution pictures that I have of the car below.

I have relisted this wagon due to a previous winner that never contacted me following the auction. Please only bid if you intend to follow through on the terms below and are able to pay for the vehicle should you win the auction:

This car is being sold AS IS with no warranty of any kind stated or implied. Please only bid if you intend and are able to purchase this vehicle should you win the auction. Please ask any and all questions that you have before placing a bid. Test drives and in-person inspections are welcomed and encouraged, but must completed prior to the end of the auction. As with any pre-owned vehicle, some wear common for a vehicle of this age and mileage will be present. It is realistic to expect that any used vehicle will need some type of cosmetic and mechanical servicing to make the vehicle exactly as the buyer will want. Please remember that you are buying a 30+ year old vehicle. Buyer acknowledges and agrees that the vehicle is being sold with all faults, known and unknown by the seller and accepts the vehicle described herein in its present condition. No refunds, returns, exchanges, or other reimbursement will be made. This is a No Reserveauction meaning that the car will sell to the highest bidder. However, I am open to all reasonable offers prior to the close of the auction so it is suggested not to wait before placing a bid. A $500 nonrefundable deposit is due at the close of the auction through PayPal and must be received no later than 24 hours after the auction’s end. The remaining balance is due within three (3) days without exception via PayPal, bank wire, bank check, or cash. I am happy to hold the car for up to three weeks after final payment is received should the winner require additional time to pick-up/ship the car. Thank you for looking!
