1986 560 SEC Convertible Conversion 57,900 miles Rare
1986 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series 560 SEC Description
Rare 560 SEC convertible conversion. The original owner lived in Las Vegas. We purchased the vehicle from his niece after he passed. We had intentions of a gradual full restoration, but you can see it is very pretty as is. Mechanically our mechanic gave a thorough review and a green light, but there were some cosmetic items we wanted to restore plus little things we are picky about like the original factory radio and being sure the antennae switch worked correctly. The electric headrests work correctly as well. The car has low miles and has the front seat heaters and horn button options. The original factory option "roulette" wheels are in amazing condition and tires are fairly fresh. The original leather seats were somewhat stained and deteriorated so we found new mercedes seat covers and replaced them. Our mechanic had the top working but advised due to the age, unless we intended to drive the car in inclement weather he would just leave the top down and cover it when stored. So wehad a custom car cover made and keep it covered in our car barn ready to go on a nice day. Car cover included. The car appears to have been painted at some point in its history. The paint is not perfect, but the automobile is very nice looking and always draws a crowd. The family had replaced the cloth top prior to our purchase and told us the conversion was actually done in Germany and then shipped back, but we have no records to verify that information. We understand the power top latch mechanism at the windshield for this car is the predecessor of the later model power top SL 500 and E300 and E320 Cabriolets which came out beginning in 1990.The original power top unit in the trunk should be replaced to use the top on a regular basis and would need servicing as it has not been used for more than 3 years. Its a beautiful classic automobile and very fun to tool around town in this beauty as they are so rare.We are out of auto storage space and so it is time to let this one go.The 560 SEC has already begun to appreciate in the last 10 years and this specialmodel is sure to become a true collector car.As with any specialty car that is more than 30 years old there is no warranty. The vehicle is available for buyer inspection if desired. Sale terms are as-is with shipping arranged and paid for by buyer. 1,000 deposit within 48 hours, balance by cash or check, transport after check clears.
