1986 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Description

Up for bid! This is a 1986 Mercedes 280 GE model G wagon. This G wagon has a very interesting story behind it. The vehicle was sold to me and representedby a Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Bjornstad which ran a embassy inthe country of Oman. The vehicle was one of a fleet of Mercedes280 GEWagons that was a gift from King Khalid of Saudi Arabia to Qaboos Bin Said Al Said, Sultan of Oman, to celebrate an anniversary of his reign. The vehicles were used by the Sultan when he made his annual tour of the country to visit the people. In the 1980's there were very few hard surface roads outside of the Capital of Muscat. At some point the fleet was replaced and individual vehicles were purchased by private parties. Robert F. Ziegler, a British citizen working for Petroleum Development of Oman, purchased one of the Gelandewagens. Which then Sold the G-wagon on Feb. 29th 1996to LT COL Bjornstad for a sum of $7,600 Omani Ria $19,700 US dollars. In March of 1997 the vehicle was shipped to the United States to the port of Baltimore. Bjornstad relocated to Colorado were the vehicle was last registered in 2012. In 2012 Jerry Bjornstad moved to Lowell Oregon and had the vehicle stored since I bought the truck recently. The G wagon has extensive list of receipts and work done by Mercedes dealer Zawawi Trading company of Muscat, Oman. One receipt totaling $3500 upon a very big stack of others. The G wagon is very solid. Very well taken care of and impressive shape for its age. The truck has all new fluids, and is road worthy. The motor runs great and no knocks or ticks. Shifts smoothly 5 speed manual transmission With4wd with split differential both front and rear. Power windows, A/C.Has the desirable desert roof attached. Paint is original color but has beenrepainted recently. High quality paint job. Interior is original and in great shape considering its age. 5 digit odometer from records I have seem to be that the truck has 102,796 miles. Hasworking tach, stereo is currently non op.Has old school Megellan GPS unit which is a relic but cool.I have many documentsand receipts for vehicle. I have previous Colorado plates, The truck has one titlediscrepancy The truck has aClean Colorado title with the correct vin number that matches vin tag. However vehicle manufacturer date is 12/85 Title is marked as a 1980 with correct matching vin number. I am a dealer in Oregonand will provide a vin inspection and willhelp correct title error.
