1977 Mercedes-Benz Other Description
Hasn't run since former owner abruptly pulled truck out of restoration shop...(roughly 10 years ago) He was deep into the process of building his apocalypse bug out truck and had an ugly divorce and liquidated the truck to me. He had over 60k into the truck when he sold it, and it was driven for over a year in the US prior to him driving it 800+ miles to the restoration shop.....vehicle was solid going in and really interesting coming out! He pulled it from the diligent mechanics 80% of the way through the process, it was not completely re-assembled when it left the shop and needs some finishing touches.
Former owner put about 40k into restoration work on a very solid truck that was purchased from a west German township where it was reportedly a riot police vehicle. You can find remnants of the classic police green on parts of the undercarriage.... Body painted "midnight metallic purple" with an orange frame....new interior cloth seats and panels/headliner with smoker vents. A few highlights of the restoration work include differential rebuilds with fast axle ring/pinion sets. Continental MPT-81 tires with almost zero miles, though several years of outside storage. Sound dampening coating underneath, industrial orange frame paint?
I do have the expanded metal wire rear windows covering to help keep the Molotov cocktails out, it will require a weld repair to a mounting bracket, but is otherwise very good. (Currently buried behind other projects so no photo yet)
Lots of mysteries here, and I'm a junior mechanic at best...... Things I Know it needs include installing the PTO gearbox, wiring the alternator, re-plumbing the coolant system, rebuilding the water separator system, (flushing the tank and all fluids, etc.....) air box/filter/snorkel install....... there are probably a bunch of things I don't know it needs........when I purchased it I spoke extensively with the shop owner who did the work to try to understand what I was getting into.....I was excited and passionate....then life steamrollered me a bit with some health crap and other whirlwinding, and I've decided I should let it go to someone more ready for the challenge.......
There is no box or bed on it.It appears to have air/hydraulic/PTO outputs front center rear...
I'm happy to answer any questions I can, but my knowledge is pretty limited.
My price Has best offer option and I am somewhat motivated to sell, but not in dire straits... There have been some offers on the truck as you can probably imagine, but none quite satisfactory.........I have a couple days worth of mechanic fees built into my price for extra negotiating room, but too low and I will just decline and keep it until I build...All financial transactions will be completed and verified prior to vehicle or title leaving my possession.Non-refundable $500 Deposit due at end of auction via PayPal or other arrangement........the balance of payment due within a couple weeks, or agreement with me. There will be no discussions of shipping or arrangements regarding shipping prior to full payment. Truck sold As is, where is. You are responsible for all shipping - transportation costs. (Zip code 59047) (no rush on moving the vehicle after payment complete, we can negotiate a reasonable timeframe to suit your needs)
