1987 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560 SL Description

UP FOR AUCTION!

This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in Arctic White over a gray MB-Tex interior and powered by a 5.5-liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The car was sold new in Florida and was acquired by its current owner in February 2019. Features includea black soft top, a factory Becker Grand Prix stereo, air conditioning, a dealer-installed rear seat, and more. A new brake master cylinder, head gaskets, steering damper, andfront brakes were reportedly installed in March 2019 along with fluid changes. This R107 shows 60k miles and is offered by the selling dealer on behalf of the current owner with a color-matched hardtop, a tool kit, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.

The body and matching hardtop are finished in Arctic White (147), and the car retains US-spec lighting and bumpers. The rear quarter panels were repainted under previous ownership according to the selling dealer. The black soft top features a plastic rear window and can be seen both raised and lowered in the included photos.

Painted 15″ Gullideckel wheels wear Michelin Defender tires sized 205/65 all around. A factory tool kit, jack, and full-size spare wheel and tire are housed in the trunk. AMarch 2019 service reportedly included rebuilds of the front brake calipers and afluid flush as well as replacement of thefrontpads and rotors, master cylinder, andsteering damper.

The cabin is trimmed in gray MB-Tex with matching carpets with burl wood trim on the center console and two-tone dash. Power windows, automatic climate control, and cruise control are equipped, and a stock Becker Grand Prix stereo is retained in the dash. A rear seat was reportedly installed by the original selling dealer, and can be seen in the gallery below. Wear is noted on the driver’s seat outer backrest bolster.

Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,000-rpm redline, and a six-digit odometer showing just over 60k miles.

The 5.5-liter M117 V8 features Bosch electronic fuel injection and was factory-rated at 227 horsepower with 287 lb-ft of torque for North America when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The March 2019 service is said to have included replacement of the head gaskets as well as an oil change and a transmission flush.
