1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL - 45k Miles - Signal Red - Mint Condition
1987 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Description
A classic, turn-key ready for your next summer cruise or road trip. A head-turner (particularly when you see how it looks in person). Owned and operated by one family since purchased brand new in Lakeview, NY in January of 1987. Handled with extreme care for 30+ years. Runs great, everything works. Interior is in great condition. Original paint is like new - carefully detailed by hand for 30+ years. Newer Alpine stereo (with new Polk speakers) installed in recent years - allows for handsfree calling and bluetooth music streaming - handsfree calling even works on highway with top down. Original Becker radio also included; worked when removed a few decades ago. Original hard top with rolling cart, has spent very few years actually on the car since it doesn't go out to play in bad weather anyway. Come see in person and run your hands over the glass-smooth paint, pictures don't do this one justice. New OEM soft top installed about 10-15 years ago, still in excellent condition. New visors recently installed, that don't flop down like most R107's (note: replica visors used, cost of OEM visors is outrageous). In recent years, new brakes, calipers, brake lines, radiator, shocks and muffler (all OEM parts) installed. And, brand new Michelin M+S tires installed last year (including on the full spare in the trunk!), maybe 100 miles on that new set. I've probably dropped $7-10k in typical maintenance over the past 5-7 years, and as a result this vehicle is running great. Turn the key and drive, that's it. No expensive work needed to keep it running, as far as I'm aware.
A/C recharged last year and pumps ice cold air, and heat works well.
A German trickle charger was installed by the dealer many years ago, does a great job of keeping car charged and ready to go - plug into power outlet. Some of the wiring behind the dash was replaced about 10-15 years ago, no warning lights or non-functioning items.
Mileage total on this vehicle averages out to just over 1k per year - enough to have kept it running great and continuously on the road for 30+ years. As a result, engine runs really well and still has a lot of pop - particularly when you drop the gas pedal and want to play. In recent years, have still taken this on 1-2 hour summertime road trips with no issues and smooth riding on the highway.
