Vintage 1968 Mercedes-Benz 230s Survivor! California Car! Heckflosse W111
1968 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Description
Let me start by saying that out of all of the old cars I’ve owned (way more than a few)I have never gotten so much attention or received so many compliments with any other car I’ve ever driven! This car literally stops people in their tracks and makes them wave snd smile. Something very special about this bright red heckflosse...
Great little everyday driver or excellent restoration candidate! This car sat for a very long time in the garage of the former owner before I purchased from his estate. After some work and new ignition keys I have been daily driving for the last few months.
Mechanically the car is fun to drive, handles well and has been very reliable.
The under dash kuhlmeister blows air but the car is missing the AC compressor.I have the mounting bracket for the compressor in the trunk. Vehicle does leak a bit here and there, andmay need a master cylinder or brake booster sometime in the future as the brakes are a bit soft. There is some rust in the trunk spare tire area which appears to be common with these models, but no rust that would compromise the safety or structural stability of the car.The body is straight, there are some very small dents and a scratch on passenger side from where the tow truck pulled it from the original owners car.the drivers side door is missing the strap that keeps the door from swinging open too far.The gas gauge works intermittently.
Here is a short list of what I've done so far:
- Radiator drained, flushed and refilled.- Carburetors Tuned- Brake fluid purged, lines blown out, refiled.- Rear wheel cylinders rebuilt.- New thermostat- New Battery- New Ignition and door keys- New Radiator cap- New tires
Car has 80k miles on odometer, and condition of the car points to that being true and accurate.I have service records from previous owners, almost all service done at Long Beach MBZ dealership.
Cosmetically, the car is in great shape! Exterior paint still shines up nicely and is very presentable.Inside shows signs of use. Some vinyl separating on the arm rest portion of rear drivers window. The dash has some cracks around the gauge cluster and near speaker vent. The headliner bias a rip that appears to have been ripped and repaired at some point.Original Becker radio was replaced at some point.
I'm sure there's something things I have forgotten to note, if you have any questions or would like any more photosplease do not hesitate to reach out.
Shipping is sole responsibility of buyer but I am happy to assist in any way on my end.
