The 190sl has always been an iconic car. Borrowing many of its lines from the legendary 300sl, it helped start one of the longest lineages in Mercedes history, the SL. The classic look of these cars has aged beautifully, especially when in great condition. The 190sl was a much more affordable way to enjoy a well-built Mercedes Sports car in the 50s, when compared to the 300sl, and remains so today, as they produced many more 190sl’s than they did 300sl’s.

This particular car has recently undergone a nut-and-bolt restoration with no expenses spared. The car has been refinished in a stunning Anthracite grey with a true to original red interior. The panel fitment on this 190sl is excellent, with both doors along with the deck lid and hood opening and closing exactly as they would like new. From the driving position you are presented with beautifully refinished gauges, along with all new and restored switchgear. Everything functions as if it were new in 1958. Under the hood is the original engine with all its factory accessories, detailed to function and look as though it has not been driven. All of the driver controls work and feel excellent. The clutch pedal grabs right where you would expect it to; the brakes bring you to a stop very nicely without any extra slop. The gearbox shifts beautifully, and the throttle has been set up so it feels perfect. The soft top is in brand new condition, folding up and down with ease and fits the car excellently.

Underneath the car is in immaculate condition. The floor pans are in great shape, with spot welds in factory locations and nothing out of the ordinary. All of the suspension components on the car have been thoroughly disassembled, cleaned, and refinished to the highest degree. This car has seen very little mileage since it has undergone this restoration, so it is showing essentially no wear and tear. No detail has been overlooked on this car, and it presents itself as essentially a better than new restoration. This would be a great addition to any collection and its new owner will be extremely satisfied.
