Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6 W103 1988
1988 Mercedes-Benz 190-Series Description
HI All!
I am listing this vehicle for a dear friend.
This is a great example of the “baby Benz”. According to records this is probably the last Mercedes Benz that was first designed and engineered using the very best technology available at the time and based on those costs the price of the car was established. Ever since most cars have been reverse designed, using a target retail value as the starting point. From there everything goes downhill…
So, incredible engineering and safety features which in turn provides impeccable handling.
This one here has had all the typical service items taken care of, which I explain below.
Let’s start with the ugly: paint. The paint is original and has not worn well. The finish is rough with some small areas where the paint is simply gone. It will need sanding and a good paint job. I can guarantee you that it will look like a million bucks after that. There are very few small dings, specially around the rear quarter panels, likely due to heavier items shifting around.
There is zero rust on the car, period. Underbody, door bottoms, engine bay, all is clean and clear of rust.
All glass is very good to excellent. Windshield is new. 3M 75% Scotchguard tint, great for those bright hot days. All power windows work correctly.
Headlights and taillights are good. Headlight doors show their age, but pretty normal for these Benz’s from the 80’s.
Interior is in great condition. Upholstery is completely unmolested. Dash cap. Some custom wood trim on the door cards, that looks really cool and certainly unique. Headliner is OK. Sliding roof works correctly. Instruments all work OK, including backlight. Original Becker stereo. Hirshmann power antenna with a mind of it’s own...
Tons of $$$ has been spent on suspension, brakes and other mechanicals: new brakes all around, new multi-link suspension components (front and rear), new torsion bars, new steering links, new Lesjofors coils, new tires, new OEM exhaust, new radiator, new fan/clutch, new cooling fans, rebuilt A/C, new distributor, new coils, new plugs and plug wires, and many more things we are probably forgetting here.
Fresh service.
Needless to say the car drives fantastic, shifts correctly, super stable, cruises at 85-90 all day long. No vibrations or unexpected noises.
But remember that this is an old car, lovely but old.
No guarantees here, car is being sold with a clean FL title, ready to be transferred. As said, sold in AS-IS condition, no warranties implied or expressed.
You are bidding on an actual car, not on a chance to test drive it. If you become the winning bidder the car is yours after payment. That is not the time to inspect and test drive. You are not only welcome but encouraged to inspect the car before placing your bid. Just make contact and we can arrange for that. Car is located @ 33149 and is being driven daily.
BIN price is very reasonable and a rock bottom reserve has been set.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
