1980 Mercedes 300TD Wagon 139K Miles, No Rust Car, 20K on new MB Crate Engine
1980 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description
1980 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Wagon (non turbo.) I purchased this car 5 years ago form a Mercedes collector who had purchased it from as relative of the original ownership family. Due to health issues, the collector didn't hold on to it for very long, I purchased it with the goal of keeping it as a fair weather car. The vehicle has a brand new crate engine installed at 119,000 miles at a Mercedes dealership. It has spent its entire life on the West Coast, first in Oregon and then I moved it to Northern California. This vehicle has been a stalwart in my garage, not a hint of electrical drain. I will start it up once a month to drive it and it always turns over and runs reliably. I have put continuous maintenance into the vehicle.
Here are some notes:-Paint is original and in beautiful condition.-No rust on the body.-Vacuum climate control servo system was replaced with an electronic conversion kit.-New windshield, no chips. -Interior is in beautiful shape, no cracks on dashboard nor any rips or tears. -Original first aid and roadside kid intact.-I have ALL service records along with original manuals.-All electrical works solid including night dash lighting and all exterior lights.
Known Issues:-Rear hatch vacuum actuated lock does not respond to central system. Can manually be locked and unlocked. All other door locks work.-Cruise control does not hold speed after stalk is released, likely a vacuum servo issue which will require replacement.-Power antenna raises up and down but does not retract fully, leaves around an 1.5" out.-There is a plastic cover missing from the adjustable seat height lever on the drivers side.-The seatbelt on the front passenger side does not retract fully when released.
I am happy to take the vehicle to a local mechanic of your choice for any pre purchase inspection you might want carried out.
