4 Parts or Restoration 1 Very Rusty 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Coupe Engine Turns!
1965 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series S-Class Trim Description
This Listing is For One Very Rusty 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SEc Coupe that is probably best used for parts rather than an expensive full major restoration! Purchased in 1986 by it's believed to be third owner with then only 70,000 miles on it. It was his daily driver until needing some engine attention due to a bit of oil smoking (valve guides and piston rings) in the early 1990's with then approx 150,000-155,000 miles on it! It was then subject to a engine overhaul with (possibly Main Bearings owner can't Remember) Connecting Rod Bearing, Piston Rings (but not pistons), related Gaskets and Seals and Oil Pump replacement while also getting it's Cylinder Head updated with new bronze Valve Guides, new Valve Seals and more modern Hardened Valve Seats for use with unleaded fuel. It is also believed at that time some Timing components were changed possibly Gears, Chain, Tensioners and/or Guides, but previous owner could not 100% remember and no invoice was produced so I can Not Guarantee These Facts/Memories. I had a professional relationship/knowledge of the Mercedes-Benz Specialist Shop and Mechanic who did it at that time as we supplied them with some of the Imported Parts that they installed. Well approx 13,000-15,000 miles later it was parked with minor brake and/or transmission issues and a newer replacement Mercedes was purchased It was the owners belief that it would be further restored and painted, only to have never have been repaired or driven again, thus it was left to set in both inside storage short-term, but mostly longer-term outside storage for the next 26-28 or so years until now. This is the perfect mate/fit to that Rust-Free South-Western Coupe or Convertible with a missing Engine, Transmission, Interior, Glass or any other Mechanicals!
I would estimate that this specimen is approximately 94-96% complete but in very deteriorated condition as these photos will attest to. There are besides a very usable engine and possibly a good transmission, all other mechanical systems including drive-line/Drive Shaft, Rear Axle/Differential, all brake system parts (Girling Front Disc Brake Calipers and ATE Rear Drum Brakes) including it's very rare remote brake booster, all glass appears good and un-cracked with pealing aftermarket tinting and the Rear Glass and Stainless Trim is Claimed to Be Very Rare and Valuable due to Recent Offers we have recieved! The doors are mostly straight, conplete only partially in lower surface rust and usable although the driver's door will not shut correctly due to just a recent latch door handle issue! Some of it's chrome trim appears missing (wiper arms, some window molding, headlamp trims, hub caps, rocker trim, hood star, rear emblems, etc) as is it's radio and trunk tools also, but most dash items and gauges are intact although most of its wood trim is in poor shape and in need of restoration one seat back is missing but I may be able to locate it for the winning bidder! Please View All Photos CAREFULLY and If You Are Needing More Detailed Photos of a particular area or location please email or text us through eBay!
