1986 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series Description

1986 Mercedes-Benz MBZ 560 model R107 SL roadster w/ removable hardtop in Light Ivory
I am selling this car for my neighbor who has owned it since 2005. She is now into her 80's and has decided that it is time to let the car go.
She is the 3rd owner and has kept the car in excellent condition in and out, and always made sure it was properly maintained (as have theprevious two owners, judging by the Maintenance booklet).
This car has spent its entire life on the Monterey Peninsula, having been purchased in July of 1986 at Stahl Motor Co. (our local Mercedes dealer for manydecades). It was then sold to the 2nd owner in May of 1991 and finally purchased by my neighbor in June of 2005.
Unfortunately, she recently had a small incident with the driver's side of the car while pulling out of her garage, so there is some bodydamage that will need to be addressed by the new owner (fully documented in the photo gallery).
Ipersonally drove the car this past weekend and it runs, drives, and stops perfectly. All accessories function as they should, with theexception of a couple items noted below.
Overall, this is a cleaner than average, well cared for 560SL. It isdefinitely not a #1 condition concours example, but it can be enjoyed and driven anywhereimmediately and given furtherattention as the new owner desires.
I encourage you to ask any and all questions you may have about the carbeforeyou bid.

A few of its attributes:

-3 owner car. This car has clearly been well cared for over the past 30 years. It has always been garaged since myneighbor purchased it 11 years ago and by the looks of it, probably by its previous owners as well.

-Color-matched removable hardtop is included. The cloth top moves up and down easily and is in excellent condition. The rear windows are very clear with nocreasing.

-Low miles: 130,794

-Original booklets and manuals are included.

-The BFG 'Touring T/A' tires are in excellentcondition with approximately 80%+ tread left.

-Maintenance booklet shows that this car has been properly serviced on aregular basis- much of it at the originaldealership the car waspurchased from.

-A brand new battery was installed last week

-The body isstraight and shows noevidence of accidents other than the aforementioned incident with the garage wall. The painthas a few small chips, but still has nice depth and gloss.

Things you should know:

-The power antenna is bad. When you hit the switch, you can hear the motor run, but the mast won't go up.

-Body damage on the driver's side- mostly the drivers door (dent and scratches), but also some scrapes/scuffing on the front and rear wheel opening/lip and driver's side bumper rubber. It isdifficult to show the damage in the photos (especially the dent), but I have included images showing shots of each individual panel.

-There are some very small dents along the top of each front fender- as if a mechanic may have leaned on it a little too hard when working on the car. They are very slight- so much so that they really don't register in the photos, but can definitely be seen in a certain light and therefore, need to be mentioned.

-There is some surface rust on either side of theradiator core support- see pics in imageshack gallery. Thepaint is a bit flaky and has come off it a couple spots, but it is only surface rust, no rot or cancer.

-There is some slight fading on the outer edge of the driver's side seat. Again, I've included a photo here to illustrate this, but it ishard to see.

-Since the battery was changed, the radio has coded-out and so far, the owner cannot find the code. We will try to remedy this problem before the auction ends, but can't guarantee it.Please assume that you are bidding on a car with a locked out radio. It should benoted that the radio workedfine before this snafu, other than the aforementioned antenna problem.
