The Mercedes 300D (W123 chassis) was produced between 1976-1985 and was equipped with the legendary "bullet-proof" straight-5 cylinder Diesel engine. considered to be one of the most reliable engines ever produced with engines often reaching over 1,000,000 miles without being rebuilt. It is also a very popular choice for the use of alternative fuels, such as straight or waste vegetable oil or biodiesel.

The 300D is arguably one of the most durable Mercedes designs ever, sporting a frame built like a German tank. This 300D has REAL bumpers made of steel instead of the plastic and foam bumpers of today. Truly a car that can last forever! This high level of manufacturing and construction is extinct in today's automated world.

Up for auction is this gorgeous and original California 1985 300D Turbo Diesel. 1985 was the last year of production for this sedan and engine, making it the most advanced of the series and very collectable.

Cosmetically the car is stunning! The paint finish has a brilliant shine and the body and chassis are 100% rust free.

It has a classic Camel MB-Tex interior, with rare wood trim all around, complete, and in beautiful condition. The seats are in great shape as well and remain comfortable and firm. The dash is in great shape being free from any major cracks, or sun damage with only a few miniscule imperfections. The carpets are all well preserved and clean all around. The headliner is A+.

Electrical components are all in good working order; Window switches, sunroof, gauges, lighting, etc. This Turbo Diesel still retains its original Becker stereo but will need to be replaced, as it is not working.

The turbo diesel runs and drives extremely well, feelsstrong, and doesn't miss a beat. There areno unusual noises or leaks. The suspension and overall handling is firm and tight. At cruising speeds of 80 mph+it is very responsive and feels amazing! The car is an absolute pleasure to drive and is one of the best if not the best one we have ever had. While accelerating the turbo engages properly and its transmission shifts nice and smooth. This gorgeous 300d also comes equipped with chrome Mercedes rims!
